Internet box 4 Lan connection doesn't work

  • Good day. Since I changed Internetbox 4, my tadoo has been working

tado internet bridge Only works via Lan

and that’s in swisscom’s internet box because I tried the same device tadoo on other routers from my sunrise neighbor and it worked without any problems

You may have to set something up on Internet Box 4. I tried a reset and it doesn’t work either. All other devices work fine with LAN. Just not that tadoo

    Thank you for your help

There are some reports on the Internet that this “bridge” is increasingly having problems with modern routers because its LAN-Anschluss is limited to 10 Mbit/sec.

      What can you do:

      - Be sure not to plug it into the 10 Gig port on the router, but use one of the normal 1 Gbit ports. If it doesn’t work on the first port, just try all LAN ports.

      - If it doesn’t work directly on a port of the IB4: Either buy a new, more modern “IoT bridge” that has a LAN adapter with at least 100 Mbit/sec, or an additional cheap one between IB4 and your “bridge”. Add LAN switch, which is able to reduce the speed from 100 Mbit/sec to 10 Mbit/sec.

Hello @Zockiepi62 what kind of IP address should your bridge have?

Because it cannot have the same IP address as the router.

Each IP can only exist once

The Swisscom router has standard 192.168.1

    1

If your bridge has the same one it won’t work.

What you can do Reset Bridge.

Normally you don’t have to change anything on the Swisscom router.

    Greetings Lorenz

Do you have automatic port forwarding enabled?

So an IoT bridge that could only actually function with UPnP would be a major security risk and I would then dispose of it straight away.

Tried every port, unfortunately it doesn’t work with internet box 4. It worked fine with internet box 3, the same device and I also tried it with sunrise box. It works fine

As Werner says, the Tado Bridge only has a 10Mbps NIC. There’s no need for more than that. So if the Internet Box can’t negotiate this, you have to put a network switch in between. Usual switches handle this without any problems.

Basically it doesn’t matter. If you ever want to run a TV box over it, you can use one of these. And otherwise they are okay in terms of durability. thank you very much, I’ll buy one tomorrow, it doesn’t matter which one or there are cheaper ones for 20 CHF

With this part you will create even bigger problems in the network than you already have. There is no viable passive (i.e. powerless) solution.

It should also be mentioned that in addition to the switch mentioned in post #11, you must ensure that all network cables must be 8-wire Gigabit Ethernet cables. Your bridge only has 10 Mbit/s, but only with such a cable can speed and duplex mode be negotiated automatically and reliably.

This isn’t a switch at all, just an “Ethernet cable splitter”, which probably simply divides 8 wires into 2 × 4 wires.

This device will most likely do you absolutely nothing.

The switch that @Tux0ne already mentioned in his post #11 would probably solve the problem.

The location of the LAN switch is flexible, so a power socket shouldn’t be a problem.

The only condition for the location of the LAN switch is: A LAN cable must run from the location of the router to the location of the LAN switch and from the LAN switch a second LAN cable must run to the location of your Tado Internet Bridge, whereby the LAN cable can be up to 100 meters long.

By the way, if you don’t yet have the latest Tado Internetbridge V3, as an alternative to an intermediate network switch, you could also find out what it would cost you to switch to the more modern Tado Internetbridge.

P.S.: Technically, it would also be possible to supply a specially enabled LAN switch directly via an Ethernet cable not only with data, but also with power.

This is called PoE (Power over Ethernet), but including an additionally required PoE injector, it definitely no longer fits your price expectations.
