PLEX doesn't start

  • When I start the PLEX app on my Swisscom HD TV-Box (IP1200), the PLEX logo is displayed for a long time and then an error message appears “Plex is unable to start due to an error” and the recommendation to perform a “Reset Plex”. . After clicking on the corresponding selection and re-linking the TV-Box with PLEX (entering the link code, which is displayed under plex.tv/link), it says “You are ready”, but Enter or OK does nothing, you then have to do it again Enter via the PLEX tile under “App Tips” Then everything described above starts again.
Due to a community tip that the PLEX version in the “App Tips” is outdated, I also looked for the PLEX app in the other categories, but couldn’t find it….

Has anyone had similar problems and a solution for this?

      …or forego Plex.

Your HD box is pretty outdated. The newer boxes from IP1400 have a newer Android and newer EOS on them.

It may well be that the Plex is no longer properly supported on your old IP1200

You can try deleting the app. To do this, go to Apps in the menu, then go to the “Plex” tile and do a “long press” using the OK button (long press on OK). The Uninstall selection should then appear. Do this and then you can restart the app as usual.

If your TV is not ancient, there is also a good chance of installing the PLEX app directly on the Smart TV.

In my experience, the PLEX Smart TV apps are always better in terms of quality (this also applies to the directly supported codecs for video and audio) than the PLEX apps in the Swisscom TV boxes, which are aimed at a relatively old Android.

    Hello @iMac99

For me it runs on an Apple TV box.

Or, depending on the case, on the Swisscom Box.

You may still have one lying around.

Otherwise, ask the hotline whether you can get a special price for the TV box.

Thank you everyone for the various tips. I’ve tried them all, unfortunately without success.
It actually looks like my hardware (Swisscom HD TV-Box IP1200, Apple TV 2013, Philips 42PFP5332/10) is now too old to support the latest version of PLEX.
Since the television picture was still excellent despite pre-Smart TV and, in my opinion, you don’t always have to have the latest technology in your holiday home, I had no reason to invest in new hardware. Now it seems to be time to change my credo and renew either the Swisscom TV-Box or the Apple TV box…
