I hope for as high a response as possible from the community so that the topic gets a certain priority at Swisscom 😺

You can forget about the “high” popularity, Google Pixel devices are in the homeopathic range in Switzerland compared to the top dogs Samsung, Huawei, eifon & co

I think as soon as Google releases their new Pixel they will update their support page.

The Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 were the first devices to support 5G from Google. As can be found in many threads here, Google needs to anchor the parameters for VoLTE, VoWifi and 5G in the firmware. Swisscom makes its data available to all manufacturers in the GSMA database.

Since the implementation has already happened in the current generations, this will probably also be the case in the new generations. But at the moment only Google itself knows. For example, 5G roaming is currently not supported with current devices.

Swisscom itself will probably not include the device in its portfolio because the devices are not popular enough in Switzerland and are not officially offered here by Google. Of course everyone will say “but I know enough people with a pixel”. When calculated across all customers, it will probably still be in the lower single-digit percentage range.

The numbers will show that Google wants to seriously attack with this model.

I highly doubt that. If Google seriously wants to compete with Samsung and Apple, for example, they would finally have to bring the device onto the market globally. The Pixel devices are still only officially available in a few countries. The new Pixel will probably only be officially offered in just 8 countries around the world. A total joke if Google is really serious. The rest has already been written… Even if they are indeed good smartphones, their distribution in Switzerland is low. It feels like there is only Samsung or Apple here anyway.

Hello everyone

I would be happy to share with you the answer from the specialists:

Google Pixel from Pixel 4a 5G works perfectly with the Swisscom 5G network (see [https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/10082009#certified\_carriers\_table](https://support.google.com/pixelphone /answer/10082009#certified_carriers_table)).
This means that the Pixel 6 Pro 5G will also work perfectly.
Swisscom allows 5G with all compatible subscriptions.

I’m curious whether Google will include the Swisscom settings from the start. Theoretically they should, since they can take over from their predecessors. This is also how Samsung, for example, does it with the EU firmwares.

But if you look at Germany, for example, where the device is sold by T-Mobile, among others, 5G availability is not given with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, although this worked without any problems with the 5 and 4a.

We are excited. As soon as I can get one from the store, I’ll test it out.

The number 2%

According to Statcounter, Google’s share of the smartphone market in the US and Canada is well behind Apple (53%) and Samsung (28 %). Globally, Google doesn’t even do the rankings. However, the Californian giant largely dominates the mobile economy with its Android operating system, which is used in 80% of smartphones and tablets worldwide. With the Pixel 6, his new smartphone series, which will be presented on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, he is finally hoping for a breakthrough ([AFP](https://www.afp .com/de))

Good day

In a previous post I read that 5G is supported. What about the eSIM function on devices imported from Germany? Is there also a difference between business customers and private customers?

Thank you very much and kind regards

First of all, thank you for the answer and the many question marks. For me, this is a somewhat questionable way of communicating that you don’t understand a question. It’s clear to me that 5G should work, that’s not the point.

I ordered a Pixel 6 Pro in Germany. I would like to load an eSIM profile because I want to keep the SIM card slot free for foreign SIMs when I go on vacation (I prefer to avoid the overpriced data packages from Swisscom).

The question is: can I easily load an eSIM profile from Swisscom or is this also tied to any certifications (regardless of the 5G issue)?

I prefer a factual and decent answer to???? or!!!.

Thanks.

Hello @Stjep

The Google Pixel devices work with the eSIM profiles from Swisscom. We therefore assume that the Pixel 6 also works.
However, since the Pixel 6 is not in the Swisscom portfolio, we cannot guarantee whether Google allows eSIM profiles from all operators.

In addition, there are no differences between business and private customers.

Yes, it also works with the normal Pixel 6. My brother has this device and it works with both VoLTE and Wifi calling. Google officially supports Swisscom and Sunrise in Switzerland, although the devices are only available as imports.

@Cruncher

But it’s a ridiculous strategy from Google. The new Pixel 7 and the Pixel Watch are again not officially offered in Switzerland. I can really only shake my head at Google’s sentence with… only available in selected markets. Really a joke from a company like Google!
