Querying the cockpit with prepaid is only possible via WLAN

  • I use a PREPAID subscription with a data package for data roaming abroad. As far as I remember, in the past I was able to view and top up the credit at any time using the Cockpit app. Unfortunately, I deleted the Cockpit app and couldn’t find it anywhere, so I have to do it via a browser.

If I wanted to establish a connection to cockpit.swisscom.ch in France without WiFi, it took forever (it felt like at least a minute) until the browser gave me an error message, which usually said that this address could not be found can be.

I tried it with different browsers (Google, Chrome, Samsung Internet). The problem was always the same, only the text of the error message was different. It worked over a WiFi connection.

    • @pgloor This only works via the web browser if you are on the network, e.g. WiFi, otherwise it doesn’t work. It’s different on Natelapp because the connection is different.

There is and, as far as I know, never has been an app for the cockpit. You probably opened a link to the address cockpit.swisscom.ch, which was then displayed again in the browser.

I think you’ve already cleared your browser history?

Then try to enter the address cockpit.swisscom.ch again in the empty browser window. This should actually work with open roaming, even without a data package.

Could it be that you mean the roaming app and have accessed the cockpit from there?

@fmueller: No, I don’t mean the roaming app. It may have been little more than a link, but it was embedded in its own window. By that I mean I didn’t have a browser menu. However, what I saw in the app was 1:1 what I also see in the browser. This “Cockpit App” was installed for me by an employee in the Swisscom Shop.

I just found an answer about the Cockpit App in another thread. It says that it should also work in the browser, but that wasn’t the case for me.

By the way, I deleted the browser cache. I’ll be in Germany in 2 weeks and will test it again and contact support if necessary.

@pgloor I have just downloaded the Swisscom roaming app mentioned above, it also has a “cockpit” connection button. I can’t actually find the app on the apple in the app store anymore, but it was already there when the thing was handed to me.

On iOS the Cockpit app was abolished a long time ago and replaced by the pure website (the iOS trick is to put an icon on the shortcut of the website), on Android I’m not sure, at least the app has existed longer than that on iOS.

If the app is still there on Android, it probably no longer has a future.

    @pgloor

Did it work in Germany back then?

The problem has probably been solved for you, here are 2 tips for other users with a similar problem:

I already had the problem with cockpit.swisscom.ch not loading via mobile data. It often helped to go into airplane mode/offline mode and then back again.

If it’s the roaming provider, manually switching to another network provider can also help.

I know the problem, it hasn’t worked with the old apple (5) for about two years and it hasn’t worked again with the new one (SE). The problem only exists with some APPs. Will try the airplane mode trick again.
