Unknown device connected to Internet-Box 3

Hello everyone,

I notice that several unknown devices are connected to my Internet-Box 3. (see image below)

I deleted these devices, they reappear each time with another name, PC-401, PC-402 etc.

My wifi has been disabled for a while (I only use cable connections) how come there are still wifi connections?

Thank you in advance for your help

“… Hello, These unknown machines are external devices that are constantly looking for public WiFi. Possibly neighbors with their devices or Smartphones that pass near your home. These devices that are not known to your network in the absence of the WiFi code, as your network is not public they cannot connect and are listed in the ”device not connected“ page in gray as indicated by. PC-177, PC 176 etc.,Cordialement Doremi… ”

__PROPOSED SOLUTION:*

go to router management and delete them

Router > Expert mode > Network > Device list > Not connected > open details

Remove device

check if they reappear

Router > Expert mode > Network > Device list > Not connected > open details

- check the data and in particular that of “Last connection” of the machine

Status Not connected / Last connection… / Wake-on LAN…

- and if this corresponds to duplicates or not

I don’t understand one thing, my wifi has been disabled for a while and in invisible mode, how come we would try to access something that doesn’t exist?

I also see “last connection 07/15/2021 at 8:50 a.m.” so there was a successful connection?

Thank you for your help

>… wifi has been disabled for a while and in invisible mode… are we trying to access something that doesn’t exist?…

if Wi-Fi is disabled the device PC-xxx tried to connect, but apparently without success 😎

invisible mode hides the name of the Wi-Fi, but does not prevent already recognized devices from connecting to it

Remarks:

- a reboot of the IB3 router may bring up old devices with names PC-xxx that were stored in the IB3’s deep memory

- secure connection systems, p. ex. a VPN, also bring up virtual machines with the name PC-xxx

Advice:

in router management in expert mode go to the section

Diagnostics > WLAN > Additional 2.4 Ghz (and/or 5.0 Ghz) WLAN debug data

Check Connection counter data since last reboot for example

Successful connections: 17Failed connection attempts: 0Connection attempts with authentication error: 0if this last counter is not at 0 -> perhaps abusive attempts were made 🤔

Eventually:

If the doubt persists change the name of the WLAN in the section

WLAN > WLAN access data > WLAN network name (SSID)

as well as WLAN password

don’t forget to adapt the WLAN access of authorized devices 😀

Thank you for your answers

“Invisible wifi is not turned off”:

it’s been off since February in fact, I still don’t understand these new connections!

Yes indeed on the screenshot there are two connections on Lan but also another by wifi…

but given your answers it must be something completely normal
