Hello Walter, thank you very much for the quick reply. As a person who is not very computer-savvy, I don’t really dare to dig around in the bowels (i.e. system) of the computer at this time. I’ll do this tomorrow so that I can get help from the Swisscom hotline in the event of a crash.

If you go back from Manual to Automatic, the original Swisscom DNS will be reset.

N.b. This is the data in the menu of the Internet box and not on your PC!

That helps!

And will Swisscom fix the problem?

That will probably be the reason, see link below.

You can also report it to support and mention that it works with a foreign DNS.

@WalterB what makes you think TIDAL is blocked by Internet Guard?

If the domain were blocked, nothing could be played, but if I see it correctly, the streams can certainly be played, although with poor performance.

I don’t have TIDAL and can’t understand which domains are involved.

If anyone has experience with tcpdump or Wireshark and can check which domains are involved, I may be able to help.

@gasoo

Ok, maybe that was the wrong assumption. At least it works with the foreign DNS, so it has to be reported to Swisscom.

There have been cases here where the guard slowed down the opening of pages, unfortunately I can’t find the thread here in the community at the moment.

Hello everyone;

Simply change DNS1 to 8.8.8.8 and DNS2 to 8.8.4.4 (these are the Google DNS servers).

That solved the problem for me too. Then restarted the router.

Swisscom hotline helped me with this, thanks again to everyone.

Streaming Tidal Masters works again; but internetguard is out of service.

So you have the choice of either tidal or internetguard.

If you want to use a non-Swisscom DNS that, unlike Google, still has a malware protection filter, my recommendation would be the Quad9:

DNS1 = 9.9.9.9

DNS2 = 149,112,112,112

Works very well in practical use and never has any failures due to its international network design.

@Tux0ne Well, my DNS works at home, I don’t have any problems and if no one wants to test, then I don’t care, it’s not like I don’t have anything better to do 😉

@enrAArne Thank you, that confirms my suspicion.

On the two DNS 195.186.1.162 and 4.162 the following IP is used for tidal.map.fastly.net. issued:

;; ANSWER SECTION:
tidal.map.fastly.net. 30 IN A 151.101.38.142

At 195.186.1.110 and 4.110, as well as on Google or others, for tidal.map.fastly.net. the following IP output:

;; ANSWER SECTION:
tidal.map.fastly.net. 29 IN A 151.101.114.142

(Sometimes also 151.101.14.142)

I just assume that this is the CDN domain, but I don’t know for sure.

The response times of 151.101.38.142 are twice as high for me as for the other IP.

Since the two.110 DNS are in a different subnet, they receive a different IP from fastly.net.

I guess the CDN mapping isn’t optimal, I’ll ask if that’s the case.

Hello everyone

Unfortunately I only got to the next step today.

I manually configured the DNS on my Swisscom router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Since then, my devices (see below) have been working perfectly again, which means streaming from Tidal is possible again without interruption.

Devices used:

Apple iphone 6s plus

Apple ipad pro (3rd generation)

AVM MP 5.2 CD/Media Player

Hope it works for everyone else too.

I had been in contact with Tidal for weeks about this, reinstalled the software, tried everything because the pieces kept breaking off, in Roon with “Tidal content loading slowly”, in Tidal itself without an error message.

I had thought the problem was with Tidal. I was a little puzzled by the fact that Tidal works via iPhone and cell phone network, but not in WiFi. A colleague gave me the tip that it could be Swisscom.

While googling I immediately came across this thread, logged in to 192.168.1.1, entered the Google servers instead of the normal Swisscom DNS servers, and voila, it’s up and running again ;-)

Thank you so much, kind regards

Kurt

Quick update, unfortunately fastly.net didn’t respond.

However, the same IP addresses as Google and .110/.111 are now returned in the DNS response on both DNS 195.186.1.162 and 195.186.4.162.

So in my opinion TIDAL should work again with the .162 DNS.

If that’s not the case, it wasn’t due to this mapping.
