100mbit instead of 200mbit

  • Good afternoon people

    I have a question…

I have a new 200mbit line with a new router etc.

    but only run at 11.0MB/s

Is this normal or shouldn’t I be at 20MB/s?

    • 8 bits=1 byte

      Rule of three…

      200MBit=25 MByte (raw data)

Your WiFi is probably slowing down…

Or how did you do the test?

Put the diagnostic profile from your router’s expert menu here and you can say something about it.

And what does the broadband checker say about your address, what should be technically available there?

Yes, what does the availability check at the link below say?

If you don’t get a performance above 50 Mbit/s, you can downgrade the subscription to “S”.

Yes, but actually only with g.Fast, and funnily enough Swisscom calls that “fiber optic technology” for marketing reasons…

How do you know you have a 200 line? If you have the 200 subscription (Internet M), that doesn’t mean that you will get the 200.

You can see how much is actually connected to you in the router menu. go to http://192.168.1.1 and click on the green tick next to “Internet connection”

You can see how much is possible on your line at [https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/popup/inone-glasfarben-checker.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/ popup/inone-glass-fiber-checker.html)

The availability checker has absolutely no information.

For me, different values with the number test than with the address.

The actual situation is a full 200mb measured. The availability checker shows me 140mb (telephone number) and 160mb (address).

The hotline only says what the checker means.

    Have a nice day everyone.

…then you can consider yourself lucky:winking:

Your statement is that the “planning data” (check via address) and the actual measured values (check via telephone number) are still specified in the checker a little too conservatively, or the database does not yet have the latest status reflects.:winking:

Exactly, you can call it that too. 3 different values. Speed test carried out with various providers, including via Swisscom in the router menu. Partly about it:grin_smile:

Then the Swisscom database has probably been reflecting an old status for months. Here only the prices seem to be constantly adjusted! png “:nerdy:”)

It is certainly better if the information in the checker shows a little less than what you actually get, rather than the other way around.

    well I did the check

    UPLOAD37.84Mbit/s

So, then everything is fine (apart from the fact that your line “only” provides 92Mbit/s)

92Mbit/s corresponds to around 11.5MByte/s, i.e. what you wrote at the beginning.

Yes, even with a “theoretical” 200mbit line.

You have already measured how powerful your Anschluss is. Please state what line values your router specifies…

You can find the values directly on the router’s login page, or in the router’s menu.
