E-Mail im Outlook

  • Hello everyone

    I have a quick question. I use my email address in Outlook 2016 and never via Bluewin.ch

    Question 1.

    If I have used up the storage space and IMAP is set up, do I have to delete the storage space in webmail, i.e. on bluewin.ch, i.e. trash, etc.? Or can I do this in Outlook too

    Question 2.

    If I receive spam emails, I can mark them as spam via Outlook and it will then be recognized as spam in every client, smartphone or tablet or do I have to do this in webmail as well.

    Thank you very much

    Greetings Ksling

    • Hi,

      Regarding question 1: If Imap is configured correctly, it will also delete the emails on the server when you delete them in Outlook.

      to question 2: The spam filter settings in Outlook are not automatically transferred to webmail. If you check the email with your Outlook, it will then be stored in Outlook according to the spam filter. This is then synchronized back to the server (via Imap) (but only the emails and their storage location, not the rule about what is spam and what is not). If you then access the server with another client, they will be synchronized in the same way as your “master Outlook” did first.

      The spam emails filtered out by Outlook are also synchronized in the corresponding folders on the other clients.

      However, if you first access the server with another client (without the personal spam filter settings), the emails will not be stored accordingly. This only happens when you access the server again with your “master Outlook”.

      Requirement: Imap must be properly implemented on all clients, which actually happens automatically today if you use the latest software (Outlook at least version 2016, iOs and Android up to date).

    Question 1. Normally you create additional folders under Outlook-Data File where you drag the email into, thus relieving the storage space of WEB-Mail.

    Question 2. The spam filter settings in Outlook are only effective on the computer in question.

    @kaetho

    Great explanation.

    And of course it also applies in conjunction with other Imap mail clients such as Thunderbird.
