Internet home network problems

Good morning everyone,

in recent days Swisscom sent the new internet box2 to replace the previous one, a replacement not due to malfunctions.

Since I had set up a home network at home with 2 PCs located on different floors and a Synolgy 415 NAS as well as a multiplayer, considering that the installation of the new box2 was apparently successful, I had the bitter surprise of discovering that the NAS and the multiplayer I can no longer see them as units but simply as devices.

Limited to my limited knowledge, I tried to uninstall and reinstall the devices but to no avail. Has something similar happened to anyone? How was it resolved?

Thank you.

Hi, I had two questions:

- Operating system type (Windows or Mac)

                 - If Windows, did you see a collegamento of a network folder or a network drive?

HI,

in one PC I have W10 while in the other I have W7. Before I saw the devices as “Computers” so I imagine them as units while now only as devices…

Ok, another question, is the NAS connected via Ethernet?

In the meantime, if you try to connect to the NAS with its IP, do you see it?

If you don’t know the IP of your synology, try downloading “Synology Assistant” ([https://www.synology.com/it-it/support/download/DS415+#utilities)](https://www.synology. com/it-it/support/download/DS415+#utilities) )

If you don’t see it yet, you need to go into the router settings

HI,

yes, it is connected via ethernet and the Synology can be seen and the internet box 2 can also see it. It just doesn’t read me as a network drive.

Thanks for the help.

Even stranger, with the W10 PC I can now see the Synology as a network drive while with the W7 I can’t. The digifast multiplayer on the other hand is not visible at all…. And to think that I didn’t touch anything…

I solved it, I take a Hard Disk and transfer the data from one PC to another, like I did 5 years ago![](https://community.swisscom.ch/html/@90EF9BABA1FE270ED8C459F9AB6A6446/images/smilies/grinning .png “”)

. Thank you Swisscom who, thanks to your fake routers passed off as innovative, made me take 2 steps backwards; at customer service they advise me to contact the service at pagamento for the modest sum of fr. 40.–/15 minutes. Maybe some idiot from beyond Gottardo will even fall for it…

I recently installed the Synology NAS via Ethernet and I had no problems, I can see the devices from any PC/App in the house.

Maybe it is possible that the Router is faulty or some settings are missing.

Sorry, but does it seem logical to you to have to pay fr. 40.–/15 minutes for a malfunctioning router imposed (and set) by Swisscom? I understand the desire to “protect” one’s devices from external attacks but this must not be to the detriment of the customer because if I am not able to see the NAS and the Mediaplayer at this point I will change the internet provider and goodbye to Swisscom TV; There is certainly no shortage of alternatives in this area…

(Nash55) As long as the NAS isn’t set up incorrectly, right? Not to defend Swisscom but before saying that a router is malfunctioning let’s try to understand our knowledge in this area (in this case) of how to CORRECTLY install a NAS
