New tv air the worst update in history

It’s not bad enough that many functions have been deactivated (forward-backward with arrow keys), but also that there are still crashes, and you also have to log in again umpteen times, and not just on the web, on the iPad there’s always “no internet connection” (even though it… Internet) or “Sorry, the content cannot be played at the moment, try again later” please restore the old version or fix problems rather Swisscom, the customers are all already running to the competition

Unfortunately, a new version of the TV Air app was released without it being the same as before

- Can be used as a remote control

- can show the watch list in Teleclub on demand

and is structured completely differently than the TV-Box-2 menu

The TV Guide is also different from the TV-Box-2 version and some features are not included.

Overall it’s a step backwards and I actually expect a finished product and not notes “in progress”

Functions –> yes, you’re right

Stability –> no, for me it is absolutely stable.

I would look for the problem on your iPad or use the standard case. Reinstall the app.

Yes, I thought I couldn’t believe my eyes:

1. Viewing picture in picture and TV guide is no longer possible

2. Volume control is missing in the iPad, it has always been missing in the iPhone…

3. The worst thing for the iPhone 6Plus is that it can only be seen in a small format.

I don’t understand how something like this can be rolled out!

Those in charge don’t care at all whether it’s fair to the customer! I will consider canceling the subscription.

However, what I would like to mention:

The attempt to improve the home display and to structure the recordings better is appreciated…. But please don’t throw everything good overboard in such an unprofessional manner… something like that is really unworthy of Swisscom!

I’m wondering now that the damage is done how long will it take to fix it? Can you downgrade to the old version in the meantime?

Everyone is sure to find something they loved and now misses in the new version.

For me, for example, it is the remote control for the TV boxes:0895522F-A901-46C9-8CD5-6790908E6544.png

The question you can ask yourself in this context is: Does new versions really always have to get worse before they can get better again?

In my opinion, the new version is obviously still in a beta test stage, is certainly not finished yet and was therefore actually released generally ahead of schedule.

The SBB, for example, does a better job by providing the SBB Preview app in addition to the SBB Mobile app.

This then allows the developers to provide users with both a stable, proven app for everyday use, as well as a more advanced app as a prototype for “first movers”.

Swisscom also knows this concept for the manually downloadable beta firmware of the Internet boxes, but unfortunately it has not yet extended it to the TV boxes or to its apps.

So dear @Anonymous: If you adopt the SBB approach a little more in the app release cycle, then you could probably avoid a lot of customer frustration.

I can also expand the list:

    - Fast forward/rewind is extremely slower than before

    - When you fade to a new show/film, you’ll be asked whether you want to continue watching, cancel or watch live. So far, I’ve always been forwarded to the wrong time when I continued watching!

    - Overview of recommended films is a very small selection compared to before!

    etc.

When can the improvement be expected?

    Show original language (German)

Yes, exactly, I can only confirm that… in addition, the small display on the iPhone no longer works while surfing the app.
What has now been fixed is the adaptation to the iPhone Plus, the display now matches the larger screen.

What is worrying, however!… I still haven’t heard back from Swisscom or from the person responsible for this chat…

I noticed it too and it has always been the case in recent years after major updates. Most of the time there were no major innovations but probably just a few bug fixes. At least what was delivered worked for me without any problems. We’ll probably have to wait a little longer for the missing functions…

    Hello everyone

@tamara180787: how many times do you want to mention the arrow key shortcut problem? It was already mentioned by SC that it will be fixed (whenever). But ok, this seems to be the complaint thread about the new iOS app, which is probably justified…

    >…you also have to re-register dozens of times

Was recognized by SC and mentioned in [Swisscom TV Air always re-register](https://community.swisscom.ch/t5/TV-Air/Swisscom-TV-Air-immer-wieder-neu-anmelden/td-p /547664) (although no fixed date is known)

    >…please restore the old version

That doesn’t work. Once a new version is in the store, a downgrade/rollback is not possible, unless SC offers the old app as an APK (which they probably won’t do because that gives you insight into the code). It’s the same with iOS and Android. Have you ever tried downgrading? Hardly possible. In any case, I don’t know of any app where you could switch back to the old version via the store. The only way to go with a new app is fix-forward.

    @all:

I can’t say too much about the other topics as I mainly use Android or the web client. But even with Android it probably won’t be long until the update (and another wave of shitstorms) comes and everyone faces the same problems again. I assume it will look similar there.

What I noticed on the iPad at home is that the performance of the new app is significantly worse compared to the old one. Mainly longer loading times. The performance should at least remain the same regardless of the model/age of the device.

The fact that some features have apparently been removed and others are not yet ready leaves a somewhat pale aftertaste and one wonders what SC did to leave something like that out. Since I also work in IT, I can only explain it this way and speculate: A) internal political pressure and/or B) lack of development resources.

    A) At the time when Web and then iOS switched to the new version, Teleclub NOW was just out and they wanted (or needed?) to be able to offer it on TV Air as well.

    B) As was reported in the media, SC had to accept a lot of head-rolling, aka job cuts. This could also have had an impact on TV Air and its development. If you work in IT, you know that there are usually not a whole host of people behind the development of an application, but rather just a few noses. It should also not be underestimated that with 2 apps (old/new) in parallel you only make progress half as fast, as you have to continue to support the old one and at some point it becomes technically incompatible, i.e. the effort becomes greater and greater.

In general, the priority for TV Air just doesn’t seem to be as high as it is for the box, which is understandable to a certain extent. Of course, this is a small consolation for pure TV Air users.

If you remove functions, even if they are small, it is always painful because there are always people who have grown fond of them. A “coming soon” doesn’t really help. I think SC is aware of this and the circumstances surrounding the shitstorm in general. The silence, or The lack of a clear statement from SC speaks for itself here. How and whether something like this could have been communicated well and cleverly is another question. Someone would have to act as a “scapegoat” and no one would be willing to do that. They also probably don’t want to communicate politically motivated decisions publicly.

Could/should you have waited with the new app until all (main) functions or at least those that were in the old one were ready? Without being able to see behind all the dependencies and internal quarrels, I think, yes. But in the end it’s always easier from the outside than it really looks…

I completely agree with you, the quality of the app has decreased tremendously.

Another example of this is that every time you update the app you lose all the programs you have downloaded - that wouldn’t be so bad if the time needed for the download hadn’t increased about 5 times since the update! The fact that a 45 minute show takes about 15 minutes to download is simply a joke! I’m seriously considering switching providers.

    Hello folks,

Most of what I miss about the TV Air 3.0.1 app has already been posted. Two earlier functions that were available in the old version, respectively. In the new version it is handled differently depending on the device (smartphone or tablet). I still have questions.

    - The time is displayed at the top of the image on smartphones (iPhone) when you click on an ongoing program. This function is no longer included in the tablet - why?

    - TV Air V2.x displayed the information about the program directly when you clicked in the lower area. In version V3, the program must be stopped and switched back to the film menu.

Are you missing these important functions in V3?
