iPhone: No Swisscom network is found.

  • Since this morning my iPhone 7 plus always selects the German O2 network instead of Swisscom. Switching it off and resetting it several times doesn’t help either. Network selection is set to manual and Swisscom is not displayed. However, surrounding cell phones with Swisscom SIM have a Swisscom network.

    • The problem was solved in the Swisscom Shop. The following is important to mention!!!

After my cell phone only showed O2-de, the SIM card stopped completely and showed “Invalid SIM card” instead of Swisscom at the top left of the iPhone display. This was because I have a magnetic mount for my car. This demagnetized the SIM card (like a credit card) and caused the problems. I received a new, free SIM card from the Swisscom Shop and bought a new holder. After resetting the iPhone everything works perfectly again!

Yes, but not pretty. First of all: The network was always Swisscom, but was displayed as o2 - de. When I searched the network in St. Gallen I could only see Salt, Sunrise and o2 - de. I also had 4G with the network, which wouldn’t work otherwise because I deactivated mobile data when roaming.

It was solved in the Swisscom Shop by resetting all settings. The content is not deleted, but you have to set everything up again afterwards. BTW only my iPhone had this problem, the business phone (Microsoft Lumia) was not affected.

It’s great that there are also users who don’t just always blame Swisscom and also provide the solution.:smileyhappy:

Thanks! At this point I would really like to mention that although I spend a lot of money on Swisscom services, they almost always work excellently. Swisscom is by far the best provider of its kind in Switzerland. If an unlimited flat rate for using the Internet abroad follows, then I’ll be the happiest in the world!:smileyhappy:

Perhaps as a note, magnets shouldn’t normally delete a SIM card like they do with a USB stick, but it could be that in your case something else had an effect due to the magnetic field.

Thanks for the tip. I do think that it has something to do with the magnet, even if I can’t prove it. My gut feeling tells me that. Anyway, the problem is solved and I received very good support from Swisscom.

    I have the same problem.

My iPhone wasn’t connected to a magnet and my SIM card works fine.

For me too, it’s obviously just the text that’s wrong, as I’m still on the Swisscom network.

I’m looking for a solution without having to reset the iPhone’s settings.

Wait until there is a new software version. After the update it takes 2-3 days and then o2-de is displayed again! According to Apple, the problem lies with Swisscom: the antenna near me would send the wrong information, including o2-de as the network operator, even though you are on the Swisscom network! However, if I’m somewhere else, the display stays on o2-de. After resetting the settings everything is OK again.

For me it’s clearly a lazy excuse from Apple, as I’ve only had the problem with the iPhone 7 since iOS 11 and, as described, it reappeared after the software update. By the way: my wife has the same problem with an iPhone 7. iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s are not affected (we also have them in the household)….

Looks like a bug in the iPhone 7.

I have had the same effect since today with the 7+ iOS 11.2.5

According to the link there is a problem but shouldn’t it be in Europe?

Me too. iPhone 7plus, iOS 11.2.5. Only O2-de, you can’t find a Swisscom network manually. Information Swisscom helpline: Apple iPhone problem.

    Hello dear Swisscom customers!

As a “loyal” Sunrise customer, I have exactly the same problem with my iPhone 7.

My phone keeps jumping to O2.de. although I normally make phone calls and surf the internet using the Sunrise network.

This is definitely not the provider’s problem but clearly Apple’s problem!

A software update didn’t help either.

I would be grateful if you reported the problem to Apple, as my complaint alone obviously didn’t help.

I love this phone, but mistakes like this are impossible!

I only saw O2 in Kreuzlingen today. Manual network selection was always offered to me by Sunrise (with Swisscom SIM) but never by Swisscom. My wife has a Sunrise SIM and only saw the Swisscom network in the same place at the same time, but not Sunrise.

    Conspiracy?

Strangely, not long ago I was from the Badischer Bahnhof in Correct Freiburg and with my iPhone SE I still had the Swisscom network well past the border.

I have to go to Romanshorn in the direction of Friedrichshafen tomorrow and I’ll see what my iPhone is doing there!

I can’t say whether turning off 4G as a test near the border will make a difference

    @Shorty666

I was in Kreuzlingen and Konstanz today, as well as on Lake Constance by boat and always had the Swisscom network on my iPhone SE.

    To take this up again:

The problem is clearly with the device/software itself.

Apple has been aware of this since last summer and the problem apparently only occurs with the 7th generation.

I would advise everyone affected to call the Apple tech hotline (0800 00 1853)
