Hi guys,
is absolutely unacceptable. I bought my Winphone from Swisscom and used the TV very frequently. now that doesn’t work anymore. I just canceled my cell phone subscription. The rest of the family will follow suit in the next few weeks.
I looked around for alternatives. My local cable provider can watch TV on all HTML5 enabled browsers. (more channels, with recording and replay. internet with GB included. For around half the Swisscom price and the buggy Swisscom router and TV-Box, I’m off straight away. By the way, I still don’t know to this day why Swisscom keeps calling on me Thanks to the intelligent (non-Swisscom) firewall, I didn’t notice this at all.

Today I was shocked to discover that the app on my Lumia 950XL, which I purchased from Swisscom, no longer works and has apparently been discontinued without further notice. I rarely use the app, but I always had a lot of fun with it.

I find this behavior very customer unfriendly. Even if we Windows users are in the minority, Swisscom should support the devices it sells!

What is the next step? Windows is no longer supported > buying an Apple or Android system?

I’m also starting to think about changing provider, as other users have already announced. With monthly fees of over SFr. 250, the services offered should be supported by all device types!

What you claim is not true, it was announced by @SamuelD at the beginning of the threat.

Why and how it is set up has been discussed in detail in this thread, I don’t need to say anything more about it.

I don’t know why you’re attacking me here. I contacted the community for the first time today after the app stopped working on my phone today. I came across this threat and expressed my opinion. If this is no longer desired here, I would like to hear from a community manager! Otherwise, I expect a little more restraint and respect from you! Thanks

@Strati

Everyone can express their opinion here.

The only fact that Swisscom did not inform is wrong!

If I don’t constantly read the newspaper, I’m not informed about what’s going on, then I can’t just say I wasn’t informed.

Also, with 47 posts, this isn’t your first time here, as you claim!!! Sorry if you can’t take criticism.

In addition, from around February 20th there was a click-away message when opening the TV app, which indicated that the app would be discontinued on March 22nd, 2017.

Thanks for the tip!
Then I couldn’t read the message in time because I hadn’t opened the app for a long time (until Saturday) and I rarely visit the community; mainly for troubleshooting/solving.

It’s all well and good that we were informed that the app will be discontinued….. Nevertheless, we are left out in the cold with the w10m as well as the Windows 10 devices. I am of the opinion that Swisscom could also make a sensible app for these devices, and yes I use a Windows 10 tablet (again the topic of UWP).

On a Win10 tablet (I have a Surface Book myself), Swisscom TV runs without any problems in the browser, just like on any other Win10 PC. Or have I missed something? (Must try this…)

Yes, the thing is already running in the browser… But sorry, a decent app wouldn’t be a luxury. I was always of the opinion that Swisscom was tech. Innovative… the competition upc/cablecom worked faster or had it worked faster and created a usable uwp app.
Unfortunately it’s of no use because UPC is not available in my area.

Incidentally, Swisscom tv also runs in the browser on the W10M, which is what you call the browser running as a desktop version. Only the service is really bad.

When I look at the details of the InOne subscriptions, under Mobile under Swisscom TV it says “iOS, Android & Windows”.
You should probably tell the marketing department that there is no longer a Windows app…

Have you ever looked at the uwp app from upc? I was able to test the app for a few days with a colleague’s account. Runs great on Windows 10 and W10Mobile. Swisscom could still learn something…
Unfortunately there is no Cablecom where I live, so I would consider switching to wet. Seems like upc doesn’t leave Windows users out in the cold.

Would like to hear from a Swisscom employee about this topic. And it’s not always just W10M that plays an insignificant role, but something about UWP and how Swisscom feels about it.

Very unfortunate,

The app worked perfectly for me

Unfortunately, TVair doesn’t work on my Lumnia 950, a reference to the apps and Worth Seeing Today doesn’t appear.

That’s probably it for me with Swisscom TV on a mobile device, a universal app certainly wouldn’t be asking too much. Unfortunately, getting one over on MS is still popular with many developers.

TVair on the web works for me on the 950XL. But only in landscape format.

It was probably programmed to be responsive, but unfortunately it requires a minimum size that is too large for all functions to be displayed…

It would certainly have been possible to program this so that TVair on the web also works on mobile phones, but they probably didn’t do that on purpose in order to push the app…

@flyer41> “universal app would certainly not be asking too much”

- I don’t think a UWP can be developed that easily. There’s certainly a lot of effort involved, which the SC probably doesn’t think is worth it. Otherwise they wouldn’t have scrapped the app. A UPW also needs maintenance, support, etc. And even if you had simply left the app as it is today, the effort involved in adapting everything to further developing peripheral systems is probably simply too great. You just have to make a cut somewhere.

@speed85> “TVair on the web works for me on the 950XL. But only in landscape format…”

- I assume that the size of the display is crucial from when it recognizes the device as a phone (=app) or tab/fablet (=PC).

In general, the web client has trouble with touch-enabled devices. I have an HP 1040 G2 and it has problems there too.

If SC wants to leave the win-phone field to the competition, it needs to know that. Apparently it doesn’t hurt much.

From an economic point of view, an app is no longer profitable if it does not reach a certain volume of people (i.e. at least 5% of the total number of mobile users). I also don’t think that a SC has an armada of win-phone developers despite its size. Experience has shown that there are a few people who also support iOS and Android. Effort/benefit then decides quickly. It’s a shame for those who continue to rely entirely on Win phones, especially once normal users have gotten used to the environment. In terms of app technology, whether with or without UWP, WP is and will probably never be able to keep up with iOS/Android. The mass determines. For some here it’s more of a question of principle…

@TheDude
I have a different opinion. A UWP app doesn’t just access W10M devices. If I think about all the Win 2in1, notebooks and PCs with W10, that’s probably more than your intended 5%.
