Latency on TV guide information

  • Hello everyone!

For about a week I have had a latency of around 5 seconds for the information in the TV guide (banner at the bottom of the screen) to move on to the correct information. Let me explain, when I skip, this banner displays the information from the previous channel for another 5 seconds before moving on to the correct information.

It’s relatively annoying when you want to do a “watch from the beginning” because 9 times out of ten the TV stays on the current channel… you have to wait for the guide to correct itself before you can trigger the “watch from the beginning”. Do you have the same problem? (UHD Box).. restart, reset etc. already tried.

(damn, I feel like no one is going to understand what I just tried to explain:smileyembarrassed🙂

“When you’re sitting in front of your TV, you have plenty of time to wait 5 seconds…”

Well, when the problem occurs when they did not exist before, it interferes with the user experience and reduces the comfort of use… We are, I think, entitled to hope to find this same comfort again. Especially if the problem is linked to a bug following an update. 😉

    Good morning,

@NathalieSI: This is not really an operating “error” (apart from the fact that before it worked correctly, and that is very unpleasant). But when you switch from one channel to another, if the image arrives almost immediately, you have to wait a few seconds to see the correct name of the program broadcast by the new channel displayed below. And so we have the impression that the channel change was not done correctly. In addition, when we switch from one channel to another, it is also sometimes to see what is playing on this channel, and therefore we first look at what is indicated in this area… and the display is first that of the old channel.

I think that if you cannot reproduce, it is because it must work faster for you, without délai waiting for the program lists, linked to the distance from the server…

Hello, I am reassured that I am not the only one to have this problem…. Indeed several times I have been fooled.

I’ve been on channel X for a while. I switch to channel Y, I see that the program is interesting, I press OK and (without paying attention to the description) I choose to “watch from the beginning”. And I don’t immediately understand why I find myself watching the beginning of the show which was on channel X.

In reality, by pressing OK “quickly”, the description was still on the previous channel.

I’m glad to see that your problems are minor but bothersome. No, in my case there are days where the remote control takes 30 or even 40 seconds to react and that since the 1st day and whatever the version of the Freeware. My TV experience with Swisscom is coming to an end, I have canceled all my abonnement Swisscom. Mainly for 2 reasons, the 1st is the exorbitant cost of Swisscom’s services, and the 2nd is a simple value for money equation. Quality is inversely proportional to costs.

It took me quite a while to find an alternative to Swisscom, as I did not have a fiber optic network in my village, the copper line being restricted (at 45 mbps at home) by Swisscom to put the sticks in the wheels of the competition, I thought I had no other options than Swisscom at the time of my move. Between the visit on Monday morning by the Net+ technician and that on Tuesday by the Swisscom technician, the capacity of my copper line to more than double was magical.

So after research I finally found an alternative, TV and internet for 38.– monthly, at present the same service costs me 114.–, note that with this alternative I go from 100 mbps at 150, and from 280 TV channels I go to more than 600. After 2 months of testing I have not noticed the slightest problem either in quality or accessibility like I had at Swisscom.

I give the alternative solution to anyone who wants by email. Don’t be completely stupid either, it seems to me that I am on a Swisscom forum, not really sure that if I put the alternative found on this page, the post could remain visible for more than 3 minutes. But I’m not the bullshit type and this alternative exists and I’m happy to communicate it to those who interesse. Afterwards, for Swisscom aficionados happy with the service and the montant of the bill, it will take a little more time for them to open their eyes and buy a tube of Vaseline.

    Hello @Xaviouu,

Thank you for your message. The latest update 1.61.12 for TV-Box 2.0 HD has been deployed to correct disruptions with the “Live Pause” function. The problem mentioned in this subject concerning the slow updating of the TV Guide is still being resolved on TV-Box UHDs. Our technicians are still working with the manufacturers on a fix.

Coincidence or not, for me, on a TV-Box 2.0 HD, I no longer have latency when changing channels.

I haven’t had a problem with the “live-pause” function since then… but I’m going to wait a few days before declaring victory. (the problems were often during prime time).

But we are on the right path…

No more Latency… one less worry! 🙂
