Configuration Switch Netgear GS108Ev2

Good morning.

I bought a Netgear GS108Ev2 switch in a Swisscom Shop and plugged it in without configuring anything. Everything seems to work well except that sometimes when I watch a Riplay program or sports on the channels in the Teleclub Sports package, the image becomes pixelated at times and some image jumps occur randomly.

I don’t know if it’s related to the switch or it’s a problem in general on my line.

It’s not too bothersome since it’s not used too often, I would still like to be sure that everything is properly configured and set.

I have my entire apartment wired with RJ45 cat.6 and I couldn’t try to connect directly to the internet box without going through the switch.

On the other hand, for those who have the same switch, have you configured it in a particular way?

I would like to be sure that it is properly configured before moving all my furniture and unplugging all the cables to try direct connection.

Thank you for your answers.

Hello Obrad.

What you can always do to be sure to avoid any overload due to other network equipment is to activate QOS and put the port on which swisscom tv is very high priority.

What type of connection do you have at home?

greetings.

I tried this function since this morning. And it seems to me that it’s the same. During the tennis final on TC sports I had a brief image jump and the image became slightly pixelated on two occasions.
The QOS is very high on the ports of the box, my PS4, and the TV to be sure that Netflix plays in 4k (I took the free trial for the month)
The rest of my devices, blu-ray, popcorn hour A400, and wifi bridge are set to very low or normal.

I have a 40/10 copper connection according to the checker and the swisscom hotline and my modem synchronizes at 36/10.

I have the same switch, it had trouble at first but since I updated the switch firmware it works fine.

You must download the prosafe software from the page, as well as the latest firmware.
Launch the prosafe, connect to your switch which is in the list with the password “password”
then go to the firmware part and update it.

That’s the first thing I did, I checked for updates but it was already on the latest version.
I will monitor this in the future and see if it changes.
I was interested to know if the others who have the same switch had made specific settings but apparently that is not the case.

Thank you for the feedback and information
