Setting up mail on Mac after uploading el Capitan

  • Good day

Since uploading el Capitan to my MacBook pro, it is no longer possible to set up my Bluewin email address on Mail, neither manually nor with My Swisscom Assistant. Is this due to Bluewin/Swisscom or Apple? I’m assuming I’m not the only one with this problem.

Thank you for your attention and greetings

With the MAC you can set it up like in the three pictures below.

Important: the password is not the login password, the correct password is in your Kundencenter.

      1. Use + to add a new account.

      2. Select yellow marked note at picture 1.

      3. Select the yellow marked note in picture 2

      4. Enter account data as in picture 3, it is important to use the correct password.

Take a look at the manual instructions at the link below:

    [https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/loesung/e-mail-einrichten-reparieren.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/loesung/e- mail-setup-repair.html)

The My Swisscom Assistant is not yet officially compatible with mac 10.11 according to the homepage, so that’s probably not the issue.

    Hello Warren

I thank you. In the meantime, OS That wasn’t the first time I wanted to set up email. but unfortunately that didn’t work either. The message “Account/password could not be verified.” appeared at the beginning:smileysad:.

    And greetings Cookie125

Thank you WalterB - you are truly a treasure!! I don’t know how many times I’ve set up a new email account - but now with your description it worked!!

I always get the message Account / Password could not be verified. The email PW is definitely taken - also tried with my account.

I have used several email addresses (including different passwords) and I still get this error message when creating a new account.

I can’t even get around to determining any input and output servers.

In particular - the user has providers abroad and is there himself - it shouldn’t have any influence

I also have more than one bluewin address. Under MacOS 10.11.6 the message appears that the account already exists. If you use the swisscom utility, you get a message in the utility that it doesn’t work with El Capitano (restrictions from Apple). Apparently you can only set up exactly 1 email address.

I was always able to set up three Bluewin email accounts on the iMAC and Macbook!

I set everything up manually, not automatically.
