France 2 disturbance

    I’m trying to watch programs broadcast last week on France 2 HD from the app and it’s a disaster, the signal is really bad…

    It’s strange, it seems to have lasted a few days in a row…

    Did you notice this disturbance, was it only on the replay and not on the live?

    I have just done several tests on my iPad with the Swisscom TV App and I did not notice any poor quality, on the contrary the image is very clear and the sound is excellent.

    The effect was as follows, alternation between a few seconds of the previous image (where we can see the disturbing page of a channel) and 1-2 seconds of clear image.

    If you have the opportunity to check anjoco, it was further investigation on France 2 on Thursday evening 10 p.m. or Saturday morning 1 a.m. While the other channels at the same times work very well from the iPhone application…

    I have exactly the same problem with this broadcast, I wonder if this is not an isolated case due to a momentary disturbance in the satellite transmitter that Swisscom picks up to retransmit on Swisscom TV.

    Last year I had exactly the same problem on a stormy evening with all the French channels.

    Let’s hope this doesn’t happen again!

    I also noticed a sharp drop in the quality of France 2 broadcasting on the SwisscomTV network.

    I have the complete impression that the broadcast has gone from HD resolution to non-HD resolution (SD), jaggedness even appears on the channel logo, on the hair, on the text characters.

    In addition, the sound is no longer multichannel but 2.0.

    I notice this very poor quality, not only on my high-end installation in my living room (4K video projector, and high-end audio installation), but also on my 55′ HD television in a secondary room, a second Swisscom TV decoder.

    However, the broadcast of France 2 was of very good quality on the Swisscom network.

    I confirm what is written above, the France 2 recordings were of very good quality, which confirms a drop in quality, without warning us…

    If this is the case, there is deception on the goods, and I will protest vigorously, possibly going as far as seizure by a legal service, blocking of royalty payments with versement of the sums on an account with a bailiff, in order to not be accused of non-payment.

    The broadcast quality of this channel which is sold to us as HD broadcast is unacceptable, and not acceptable.

    I repeat, there is deception on the merchandise and false advertising.

    If it is a past technical problem, customers must be warned, a breakdown can always happen, and the use of an emergency route possible, but, there is a total absence of communication, and the problem seems to persist…

    I was quite satisfied with the overall quality (well, we’re not going to ask for 4K speed on an internet network, in 2015…, you have to be reasonable).

    But this is totally unacceptable.

    I am in no way a huluberlu, I am an engineer in the broadcasting profession and know my job perfectly.

    I confirm that the temporary reception of France 2 HD is catastrophic. More than mediocre quality. Swisscom no longer displays any disturbance, which seems minor to me, especially since there is no reaction from them. Sad…..

    I called Swisscom’s technical service this morning; the technician himself notices the same problem.

    This evening, same problem. I called again: the technician did not notice any problem on his monitor, and told me that the problem came from me… but of course…!!!

    He wants to manipulate my TV box; I tell him that everything has already been done, reset everything, updated the firmware, measured the quality of the internet access speed etc… and that the problem is only present on France 2 HD .

    He asks me the model of my TV… I give him details on my two installations and that the problem is the same on my 2 installations.

    I tell him that I am not the only one with this problem; so finally, he changes his tune and tells me that he will raise the problem.

    I am very surprised, they do not have access to the teleport alarms, have nothing to note the type of audio stream broadcast (currently, they broadcast 2.0 and not 5.1), nor the flow rates and quality of the channel streams. received and broadcast, it’s incredible, just simple TV!!!

    I can’t believe it.

    I’m not asking for the quality of a 4K stream at 25 Mb/s, I know how to be reasonable, the stream of around 5 Mb/s in HD from France2 was already very good, and satisfied me, you have to know how to be tolerant.

    But this is disgusting!!! low resolution, jaggedness on the logos, on the fonts of the synthesizer, jaggedness on the hair, on the teeth of the presenters, the architectural details are full of artifacts, the flat color gradients are spoiled by halos (strong reduction of the depth of quantification), on the sound side, we are only entitled to a union minimum of 2.0!!!, with very average quality!!!)

    I’m going to watch France 2 (special correspondent) at the house of a colleague who has cable, and who invites me to dinner for the occasion.

    Dozens of channels are in HD without having the word HD in the logo, because HD in 2015 has become the standard

    Moreover, France 2 HD has never had a mention of HD in its logo.

    NGC, Disney, TCM, Discovery, Paramount Channel, TF1 etc. do not have the HD mention in their logo but they are in HD
