Network crash on 2nd TV box

Good day

In our home the network always switches off as soon as the second TV box is started. That means I don’t even have a connection to the router (red X on the network sign + ping not possible). We sometimes have a WLAN failure (still connected to the router but no internet), this happens regardless of whether the TV box is started. After restarting the router it works again. I’ve called support many times and they’ve come over, but they’ve never had any effect. Since I’m a computer scientist myself, I notice that what these people are doing doesn’t help at all. (Good approaches but no success)

I connected the 2 TV boxes directly to the router. (Static IP’s)

1 cable leads to an unmanaged switch from there 5 different lines go to 5 computers (newer models) (DHCP IP’s).

To do this, the router goes via a device to the power line and is then picked up again in the kitchen and pulled onto a small computer. (Used for recipes (touch screen in the wall)) (DHCP IP)

We still have a Sonos sound system which has 3 boxes and 3 players. (Static IP)
Then we still have about 8 mobile devices in the network (cell phones (DHCP but different pool))

I paid attention to the IP assignment, there is no IP collision.

Hope for quick help.

What kind of router is this?

If both TV 2.0 boxes are only connected as a test and nothing else, what happens then?

Show original language (German)

Installationen, Netzwerk, Internet, Computertechnik, OS Windows, Apple und Linux.

Nothing happens.

Because if you start the second TV box, the first one still runs.

It’s just the network that crashes. (Router shows nothing)

Unfortunately I’m not at home. However, this is a completely new router (this failure also occurred with the old router)

Maybe Is there a HUB installed somewhere that I don’t know about and there are collisions?

Below are the different routers to indicate which one is available now?

For network switches I use this one from Swisscom at the link below!

Internet Box Plus

By opening the router via 192.168.1.1 in IE.

And under network, assign the devices a static IP.

It wasn’t the IP assignment (there’s nothing wrong with that)

I assign a static IP address to the device myself and leave the TV 2.0 boxes alone.

It has nothing to do with static IPs anyway…

Everything is ok with them, for sure.

It didn’t work with DHCP either.

And works poorly with static 1:1

Could it have something to do with old cables?

In order to isolate the error, there is the option of plugging in all devices individually and testing them again and again.

Whether the switch could still cause a problem might not be so far-fetched!

Was done.

No success, no matter which device, as soon as TvBOX number 2 is started everything crashes. Replacing the TV box didn’t have any effect either.

And it’s not that it doesn’t work at all anymore. After restarting the router you can start the TVBox and strangely enough the network doesn’t crash.

So if that’s really the case, I would next do a factory reset of the Internet box. This is the easiest next step in this situation. And initially without reloading one. shot configuration.

With my neighbor it’s obvious that he has a good connection etc.:0
