Swisscom TV mit Chrome

Hello dear forum

As of today, the following message appears with Chrome:

Your browser is not supportedYour internet browser does not support the Microsoft Silverlight plugin. We recommend the following internet browsers:Windows: Internet Explorer 7+, Firefox 12+Macintosh OS (from 10.5.7): Firefox 12+, Safari 4+

Yesterday it was still working.

Silverlight is installed and up to date. The latest version is also installed on Chorme. Silverlight plugin is activated.

What are the reasons for the shutdown?

It has actually always worked well so far!?

Everything seems to be right, it shows the following:

The version of Silverlight installed is:
Silverlight 5 (5.1.30514.0)

You are ready to use Microsoft Silverlight

Does that work for you?

Thank you

I have the latest version of Silverlight.

"The version of Silverlight installed is:
Silverlight 5 (5.1.30514.0)

“You are ready to use Microsoft Silverlight”

The problem described by Alitai still exists.

Great tip… at least the link works.

However, this cannot even begin to solve the problem.

I hope that Swisscom will authorize the BUG for the currently 25% 2 most popular browser again.

Dear forum

The problem described by Alitai also (what a joke) exists with the Opera browser. Why a joke? Because Opera is the web base for the apps in SC TV 2.0. All updates are present, checked and correct.

Opera 32Bit still works

a Portable Version of the browser can be downloaded.

OperaPortable_12.17_funktioniert.JPG

Version 28.0 already has problems with Silverlight

I’m assuming that it’s not Swisscom that can solve this, but that it’s more related to the fact that Silverlight is no longer being developed further.

In other words, for now the only option is to change the browser.

And Swisscom will certainly have to find a solution in this regard in the future.

Hello Warren

But then Swisscom has to hurry up. SC Browser/Web TV runs exclusively with Silverlight. And unfortunately your statement doesn’t quite make sense to me. The day before yesterday it worked, yesterday it didn’t anymore, the application uses Silverlight, but if Silverlight is no longer being developed, then how come the Webtv’s Silverlight has been modified in any way?

Hi Alitai,

I’ll get in touch again. I was on the Internet with Firefox, which works fine, then I turned on Chrome and it really doesn’t work.

I apologize for the previous letter

So first of all, I have no idea, I was just making assumptions.

My thoughts were more along the lines of the browser being updated and no longer supporting Silverligth in this version because it is no longer being developed further.

But either way, Swisscom will have to come up with something new in the foreseeable future anyway…

Dear community

Thank you for your contributions and your lively exchange on this topic.

Google has decided to no longer support Silverlight technology. We recommend using an alternative browser such as Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari. Swisscom is examining options to offer Chrome users a great TV experience again in the future.

Dear community

Opera 28 unfortunately cannot be implemented again. It runs on Chromium basis. However, older versions still work.

The Microsoft Silverlight plugin based on NPAPI technology is indeed on the way to disappearing from Chrome.

From my point of view, it is extremely radical and not in the customer’s interest to simply kill Chrome in the Swisscom TV web application without prior notice, especially since there are still six more months of “extended” support.

It would have made more sense (six months ago!)

- in the web application with “unfortunately you are using a browser that will soon no longer support important technology”

- just implement a test for Silverlight support, which then (as soon as it actually happens) says: “we’re sorry, but you’re missing Silverlight; it’s not supported on this browser”

For me it would be enough if all functions except video streaming were available.

I would like to quickly look at the television program or manage recordings.

This should also be possible without Silverlight’s DRM features (“copy protection”).
