Switching to Swisscom - Unlimited data volume?

  • Hello

I plan to move from Sunrise to Swisscom after 15 years.

The reason is, firstly, the unlimited data volume (infinity XL). With my current subscription, which cannot be extended with a cell phone, I only get 1GB per day. Secondly, the introduction of LTE+ next year.

I still have the following questions:

    • Every now and then I connect my cell phone to the notebook. Is that a problem?
    • Are you satisfied with the 4G coverage?

    Thanks for the info.

Yes, that’s right and it won’t be turned off completely if it were to happen, Swisscom sometimes even asks.

    It’s not unlimited Unlimited!

The NATEL® infinity subscriptions are valid for normal personal use. If Swisscom proves that the use differs significantly from normal use or if there are indications that the SIM card is being used for special applications (e.g. monitoring applications, machine-to-machine, direct dial and permanent connections), Swisscom reserves the right to stop providing the service at any time to stop or restrict, or to take another appropriate measure.

4G coverage can vary depending on the location!

If you use the mobile phone as a hotspot for your notebook, it also depends on the amount of data you download without creating an extreme situation.

But on mobile the usage is unlimited_ right?

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a cell phone itself or a hotspot for a notebook, the above restriction, which WalterB already mentioned, applies.

According to experiences here in the community, medium - 2-digit GB numbers (month) shouldn’t really be a problem with an XL subscription - at least if it’s a little lower every now and then…. 😉

If it is consistently exceptionally high, Swisscom will contact you…

No, as described above, extreme data consumption can cause a reduction in performance, it is not completely stopped, but reduced until the next month.

Unfortunately, the limit is not specified anywhere; some people talk about a maximum of 25 GB and others about higher limits.

I would think carefully. With Sunrise the speed is at least unhindered, with Swisscom Infinity the speed is throttled right from the start, the more you are willing to add, the less you will be slowed down. Personally, I can’t get used to the “Infinity” tariff plan at all, but everyone has to know that for themselves.
What is important to me is that there are no additional costs after the included data volume has been used up. I can then throttle the speed, but no more. For this reason, I canceled my Natel entry this year because Swisscom charged me up to CHF 5.- per day for each MB after reaching the inclusive 500 MB and did not want to offer a larger data package.

With the Infinity subscription you don’t have to pay any additional fees for data consumption and the creator of Tread is talking about an Infinity subscription and not an entry subscription!!
