So this in short. Thank you everyone!

Two things

For the POP account I had to uncheck “Automatically recognize and adopt account settings” and then it became online. Whatever the reason, I cannot understand it.

(I had read this here before. But this was the problem elsewhere, that didn’t work.)

With the IMAP account it just wouldn’t work. But then I saw that the points for the password were a bit few. So I re-entered my account password and lo and behold, now this account is online again. So everything is OK again. and online. Great and thank you again!

Hello everyone

Had the same problem, since the new update no email could be sent in Mail.

The only change was in the end (after reinstalling with the Swisscom assistant)

The SMTP must run over SSL!

Well, it only cost me about 3-4 hours of trouble in total 😕

Greetings, Dave

What Swisscom delivers with Mac OS

Thanks to some guys in the forum, I deleted my Bluewin account, reinstalled it using the Automatic function and it actually works again.

This is due to the fact that this is de facto a Swisscom problem, but rather an Apple problem. In other words, you could receive and send emails via webmail. If you want to do this via Apple Mail, Seisscom only has to give you the server details. What you have to enter and where would be Apple’s responsibility, or at Swisscom it would be the responsibility of the paid My Service team ..

But regardless of that, it wasn’t swisscom that changed anything with mac os 10.10, but apple…

I have read the entire discussion regarding setting up the email account. I tried all the ports, i.e. 993, 465, 587. Despite everything, sending emails is still not possible.

Can someone tell me where I have to enter which port? The account type says IMAP. Do I have to change this to Swisscom Bluewin IMAP? If so, where do I change this?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

According to the template at the link below it must work!

Important! the password is not the Swisscom login password.

Then there is the automatic setup with the data from the Swisscom login!

Installationen, Netzwerk, Internet, Computertechnik, OS Windows, Apple und Linux.

It now worked with the Swisscom Assistant. I have no idea how, especially since I entered your details exactly like that, including the correct password. That’s why I don’t know how to do this on the iPhone. And since I don’t have a Swisscom subscription, I won’t get any help. Do you perhaps have a tip?

I also wasted two hours before I could send emails again after upgrading to Yosemite. What ultimately helped was that I removed the Bluewin mail account (IMAP) and then set it up first using the Swisscom setup help and with the settings in message number 10 (with screenshots), but then also in the mail program under Add Account, Other Accounts I added the bluewin account (where email address and password are required). The next second it worked again. So this step seems to be decisive.

What I don’t understand is why certain people need imaps and smtpauths and others need imap and smtpauth without “s”. I used the latter.

It is also essential - as some people have already pointed out - that you differentiate between the username and password that you use on the Bluewin website and the email address and password for the email (which is the case for many of us It’s been years since we no longer needed this password). You can find this password when you log in to Bluewin and look for your general information there. The password is hidden behind asterisks, but you can see it by clicking “show”. Under SMTP List I entered my full email address including @bluewin.ch.

Hope this information helps someone.

The email settings are also a constant nuisance for me. Sometimes it works on the Mac/iPad, sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes the emails aren’t synchronized, etc.

I no longer feel like sitting in front of the computer for hours and testing everything numerous times.

In my opinion, the email configuration should be as simple as with Gmail or Outlook, for example, there are people who don’t want to set ports or SSL manually.

Until then, I’ll work with Bluewin webmail, which works wonderfully.

Let’s hope things get a little easier in 2015. 😉 Cheers!
