USB W-LAN adapter in connection with the Internet box

Hello

Does anyone have experience with the ASUS USB-AC53 (USB, 866Mbit/s, 300Mbit/s) adapter in conjunction with the Internet box? Is it fully compatible?

I don’t have this exact stick here, but both the stick and the Internet box comply with the 802.11ac standard. So it should work without any problems.

Since you usually only need a stick like this for desktop PCs, the obligatory note: a permanently installed network cable is almost always a better solution than the greatest WLAN. If at all possible, connect the computer to the router via cable.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Hello Power Mac

Thanks also for your answer.

For me it’s all about the laptop. Since I can only achieve a transfer rate of 54 MBit/s with the internal receiver, I would like to try this with a USB W-LAN receiver.

I networked the remaining devices that are stationary using an Ethernet cable. The labtop is sometimes on the terrace or somewhere else and a cable would be a hindrance.

The adapter is definitely good for this purpose.

Thanks to AC and beamforming, reception and therefore transmission speed should be better even at greater distances.

You can post a speed test with this adapter later if you bought it:

The Internet Box has a small integrated test server which enables such measurements.

Sorry, but I’m having a bit of trouble with the “speed madness”

When working with the laptop, you probably won’t notice any difference whether you have 54 Mbps or 100 Mbps or 300 Mbps. With 54 Mbps you can watch multiple HD videos at the same time and still work/surf comfortably at the same time. And whether a photo from the NAS 1/2s or 1s is needed up to the screen, who cares?

I basically agree with my colleague,

For the application scenarios mentioned, 11g WLAN or 11n is actually sufficient. However, you have to take into account that with newer WLAN technologies not only the speed increases, but also the range/coverage…

If you want to copy several 100MB’s to/from the NAS every day, then you can use 11ac WLAN - apart from the fact that only one cable would actually be correct for such an application….
