The next holidays are coming soon: So why not make a few preparations? Like downloading apps to make the journey more enjoyable. These are 7 digital must-haves you shouldn’t be without.

MAPS.ME

Been there before? As soon as you check into your hotel, your helpful host jots down all the sights, museums, bars and hip districts on a piece of paper, which you then carry around until it gets so crumpled you can’t read the writing any more. So it’s best to download MAPS.ME to your smartphone right away. Use the app to mark all the places you’d like to visit. If you’ve already downloaded the city maps you need while you have Internet access, you can set a few pins, and even without the Internet the app will take you to the sights and recommended bars and restaurants – or even the market on the other side of town.

WiFi Map

If your roaming allowance is running out or your subscription doesn’t include data abroad, you’ll be glad of free WLAN access. That’s where the WiFi Map comes in handy. This app finds all the available hotspots in the area and shows you them on a map. You can use the WiFi Map without Internet access. Simply download your chosen map in the app at home or before you leave your hotel with Internet access and use the app offline.

GoEuro

What’s the fastest, most convenient way to get to your holiday destination? By road, rail or air? Use the GoEuro app to compare all three options in a search, with direct access to more than 600 rail, long-distance bus and airline partners. Once you’ve decided, it’s best to book directly in the app. Store your mobile tickets to be sure you always have all the necessary documents with you – and save paper at the same time.

Cockpit

Do you know which mobile tariffs you can expect abroad? Or does your subscription include a roaming allowance? You can find all this info in an app in the Swisscom Cockpit. If you use the Internet a lot when you're abroad, you can buy additional data packages in the Cockpit too. You can also keep a check on the costs you run up while you’re abroad.

Stau Mobil

If you’re travelling on holiday by car or campervan, it’s worthwhile checking the traffic before you set out: there’s nothing worse than spoiling the holiday mood by sitting in a frustrating traffic jam. Use the Stau Mobil app to check any traffic delays before you set out and filter according to cause, currentness, distance and other options.

blue TV App

Don't miss your favourite series on holiday: you don’t need to with Swisscom blue TV. Use the blue TV app to access your recordings anywhere in the world. So forget the boring hotel TV selection and round off the evening with one of your own film recordings.
