Sometimes some of the nodes/backbones (I'm not sure of the correct term) have a very high latency (200+ms). I can see this when I tracert to whichever website or service (for example games) I feel is slow. I can mainly feel this when trying to access Google services and I think it's during peak times. For example here is a tracert done to youtube.com a few minutes ago: Tracing route to youtube-ui.l.google.com [173.194.35.5] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms 1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 25 ms 27 ms 22 ms 11-54.186-195.fws.bluewin.ch [195.186.54.11] 3 * 217 ms 214 ms 138-219-3-213.bluewin.ch [213.3.219.138] 4 26 ms 27 ms 25 ms 137-219-3-213.bluewin.ch [213.3.219.137] 5 214 ms 223 ms 205 ms 9-217-3-213.bluewin.ch [213.3.217.9] 6 224 ms 233 ms 244 ms 130-220-3-213.bluewin.ch [213.3.220.130] 7 31 ms 35 ms 35 ms i79zhb-025-bun4.bb.ip-plus.net [138.187.129.37] 8 243 ms 231 ms 255 ms i79inx-015-ae2.bb.ip-plus.net [138.187.130.110] 9 50 ms 56 ms 60 ms 72.14.222.46 10 32 ms 33 ms 32 ms 72.14.232.208 11 32 ms 33 ms 32 ms 209.85.241.65 I'm not entirely sure if those nodes get saturated during peak times but either way it's not really acceptable latency! This changing between good latency and bad latency has been going on for a while but today I had enough and wanted to report this. Unfortunately I'm not sure where the best place is, but I try here. So to be clear sometimes the latency is fine and sometimes it's this bad. Sometimes even 360p video needs lots of time to buffer. Sometimes it's similar for World of Warcraft, but I think that goes through other nodes/backbones than for Youtube. edit: when latency is fine, it goes through the same server/nodes (the ones ending with 219.137 and 219.138) A quick tracert to European World of Warcraft gives this (I tried several times): Tracing route to eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com [195.12.234.62] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 23 ms 23 ms 22 ms 11-54.186-195.fws.bluewin.ch [195.186.54.11] 3 * * * Request timed out. 4 26 ms 26 ms 26 ms 141-219-3-213.bluewin.ch [213.3.219.141] 5 27 ms 26 ms 26 ms 13-217-3-213.bluewin.ch [213.3.217.13] See how the 3rd step even times out. Very strange. If it's not a time-out it can also be a 200+ms latency. Most times it's working as usual but when it isn't you want to pull your hair out, especially when even the shortest 360p video takes more than a minute to load. ping www.google.com = 270ms ping www.bbc.co.uk = 46ms ping www.bing.com = 48ms ping www.rts.ch = 38ms Thanks for any help to get this fixed!
