Independent thanks to inOne mobile care: the Apple Watch in Family Setup
With the inOne mobile care subscription, your Apple Watch gets its own phone number and is therefore available in the Family Setup. Read on to learn all about the subscription and how to activate the eSIM in the Apple Watch.
You can now combine an Apple Watch (Series 4 and above with watchOS 7) with an inOne mobile care subscription. This means that the Apple Watch has its own phone number and can be used completely independently of your iPhone.
With the inOne mobile care subscription, your Apple Watch gets its own phone number and therefore becomes the main mobile device. This means that the Apple Watch can be used by a family member such as a school-age child or one of the grandparents.
The subscription price is CHF 9.– per month. This includes:
Use: Unlimited calls and SMS/MMS
Data: 1 GB data per month. Thereafter speed is reduced to 128 kbit/s for downloading, 64 kbit/s for uploading. However, no additional costs are incurred.
Abroad: 300 MB & 30 minutes per month. After the included minutes have been used up, calls cost 1.–/min. and a 100 MB data package costs 33.–.
Since the Apple Watch does not support roaming, it is not available for telephony, SMS etc. when used abroad.
Note that inOne mobile care may only be used with certain devices specified by Swisscom (such as the Apple Watch). In the event of non-compliant usage, Swisscom reserves the right to discontinue or limit the service or take other appropriate action (e.g. change to a different subscription).
Activate eSIM for inOne mobile care
To use the new watch with an inOne mobile care subscription, follow the instructions below – it is important that you choose “Set Up For a Family Member” during the Apple activation process. If you would prefer to instead use the Apple Watch with your existing mobile number and a Multi Device option, select "Set Up for Myself" during activation.
Open the "Watch" app on the iPhone.
Tap the "My Watch" tab.
Choose "Cellular" > "Configure Cellular Plan".
To use the new watch with an inOne mobile care subscription, simply select "Set Up For a Family Member" during activation.
You will now be guided through activation.
These instructions also apply if you already have a Watch and you only want to take out the inOne mobile care subscription. You order the subscription directly in the "Watch" app and not via swisscom.ch.
