IPv6

Hello, I am interested to know what Swisscom's plans are with regards to deploying IPv6. Is this already available, if not when, how, is any documentation available, can we already request address space registration, is the existing line of SOHO routers already compatible with IPv6, are there any business offerings, etc? I could not find anything relevant on the Swisscom site, so any information would be appreciated.

I do have static ip though at home, based on that does it mean the ipv6 address is static too?

Why do you have a static IP? Do you still have an ADSL access or a business internet access (BIL)?

If you have an ADSL connection with static IP, I think you could name the provided IPv6 prefix static too.

vDSL.. Unfortunately i had to change to a business line to be able to have a static ip..

I run my own vpn, webdav, caldav sync servers and it makes it a lot easier and stable using a static ip.

If your v4 is static, then your v6 is static.

There is a bijection between the v4 address and the v6 /60 prefix 🙂

IPv6swisscom

IPv6 can now be enabled in the CustomerCentre if you have a "CentroGrande" Router (pirelli model).

It's still in testing phase though.

Any other CPE capable of 6RD should also work after manual configuration. Any other device with Linux kernel >= 2.6.33 and you=root might work if you put in a little effort. See http://labs.swisscom.ch/en/trial/ipv6-sneak-preview

If you want v6 all the way down, Swisscom has a Google approved DNS server running at 2001:918:0:1d::2

might however also be part of the testing phase since i couldn't find this address documented anywhere online

Heya all,

Trying to resurrect and old topic.

I had IPv6 running at home using my vDSL connection from both, Swisscom and HE Tunnel Broker.

Few weeks ago I upgraded my connection to Fiber Optic and got the new Fiber Optic Business router from Swisscom.

Since i got that, I cannot use my IPv6 tunnel through HE tunnel broker and not even the IPv6 that was delicated to me from Swisscom.

Anyone here uses IPv6 on Fiber Optic by any chance?

Hello,

The post is old but it was helpful, i just have a follow up question,

i managed to get ipv6 to my ipv6-enabled network devices fine using my ubuntu server as the ipv6 router according to the steps in the link http://labs.swisscom.ch/en/trial/ipv6-sneak-preview from the previous post,

my question is are these ipv6 address static? so i can point my domain to my home ipv6 address without worrying about it being changed every other week?

Also, you guys think its possible to get reverse dns for the ipv6 address we get?

The IPv6 is not static cause your not static IPv4 is part of the whole prefix:

If you have an VDSL access, your IPv4 won't change for a long time, since you don't interrupt your connection for several hours or change your cpe... but it's still not static 🙂
