Order now: the WLAN-Box3 for better WLAN speed

Dear community,

From today, the new WLAN-Box3 is available in the [Online Shop](https://www.swisscom.ch/fr/clients-prives/produits/internetrouter/details.html/wlan-box-3-11052859?contractDuration=24&stch=pdp&ing=ptl-device-first&simplyDigital=true&journey=device -first&useCase=HARDWAREONLY). Beyond its slightly more imposing format than the previous model and its rounded design, it offers above all three new features. You benefit from almost double maximum WLAN speed (10.2Gbit/s instead of 5.4Gbit/s), the most stable WLAN thanks to the brand new Wi-Fi6E standard and an ultra-fast 2.5Gbit/s Ethernet port. s.

The WLAN-Box is also a 3in1 device. It improves the WLAN range at home, connects the TV-Box to the router and ensures maximum WLAN speed in each room. It is compatible with Internet-Box2, 3 and 4.

You will find an FAQ regarding this new WLAN-Box on the device page .

What do you think of the new WLAN-Box? We look forward to receiving your feedback!

Best regards

to specify:

Up to 10.2 Gbps WLAN speed cumulative

  • High-end devices with Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E reach a maximum speed of 2.5 Gbps near WLAN-Box 3.
  • Smartphones or notebooks with Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E, often with less efficient WLAN, reach speeds of up to 1.2 Gbit/s.

Technical characteristics:

  • Wi-Fi 6E standard for 6 GHz WLAN (802.11ax)
  • Wi-Fi 6 standard for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax)
  • Maximum WLAN speed of 4.8 Gbps with 4×4 MIMO (5 or 6 GHz)
  • Maximum WLAN speed of 600 Mbps with 2×2 MIMO (2.4 GHz)

Why don’t you apply for your apartment to be connected to fiber. In principle, the connection is made by Swisscom free of charge when you take out a fiber subscription. In any case I didn’t pay anything and neither did friends.

This surprises me a lot @Biscotte!

I just had to inform my management. But Swisscom paid all the costs. Same in neighboring buildings. Try contacting Swisscom for information.

You tell them that you want to upgrade your fiber subscription and ask if you will be responsible for any costs.

I did it! Answer: This is not planned at the moment. There are 60 apartments so I think it’s all or nothing. I’ve been finding out for months 😔

I’m in the countryside and no mobile network either.

Good morning,

On the description sheet, it is explained that only 4 Wlan Box 3 can be added to the WiFi network.

But if they are wired via Ethernet via intĂ©rĂȘt box 3 (2.5Gb port via 2.5Gb switch), can we connect more?

Or is this a limit regardless of the mode of use (access point or repeater)?

THANKS

YES that’s correct

NO this is not possible

YES that’s correct

It is possible to couple 5 WLAN Boxes in star or series, 1 basic and 4 additional:

Place and configure WLAN-Box – Help | Swisscom

You can connect up to 4 WLAN-Box to your existing WLAN network. Thanks to the Mesh function, it now doesn’t matter whether you place the WLAN-Box in star or series with the Internet-Box. For an optimal connection, we recommend that you connect the WLAN-Box to the Internet-Box using an Ethernet cable.

Hello, how can I force a Wlan-box 2 to connect to another Wlanbox which has a strong signal instead of taking the router’s signal directly which is weak? In other words connect Router-Wlanbox 2 “1” in series then Wlanbox 2 “2”.

1. synchronize WB1 on router with an Ethernet cable

2. place WB1 in its intended location

3. synchronize WB2 to WB1 with Ethernet cable

4. place WB2 in its intended location

1. What is the chosen subscription and the chosen speed for the internet?
A bit more precision. (no need for the exact address but just a fairly specific area like the neighbor’s house.

It’s like saying I have a car breakdown and going to the mechanic so that he can solve the problem by guessing the fault 🙂

If you have a real speed problem, you must request the internet booster with the cellular antenna which will be affixed to the exterior window facing the nearest cellular antenna and the receiver on the interior window.

An indoor antenna will be of no use for a minergie house/apartment which is very well insulated and prevents waves from passing through.

Even the Swisscom network even crosses the Swiss/France border at Veyrier customs, that seems very strange to me.
Unless you have a house or building that meets the true Minergie standard.

the cellular signal covers 99.9 from Switzerland obviously not at maximum speed if very far from the antenna.

Good evening, thank you for the details. Unfortunately the mobile network is also very weak, the internet booster is of no use to me. I find myself in the middle of a triangle and often in 3g.
The only solution is to connect to optical fiber. But who pays? This is the real problem.

Good evening

> Hello, do you need optical fiber to benefit from these new performances?

No and fortunately, if not, all companies would go bankrupt!

You can very well have a blue internet S connection limited to 100 Mbit/s (WAN) and have 10Gb/2.5Gb/1Gb on your internal wired network (LAN) without any problem and a Wifi at 150/300/600/1200/ 2500 Mbit/s) it all depends on the distance between each WiFi and congestion between devices and the number of devices connected simultaneously and type of use for know the bandwidth needed for each.

Only a minority 2 to 5% need large volumes of data and therefore very fast internet access for downloads which are mainly illegal for private purposes, the others are for professional uses such as video/audio editing and have a suitable subscription for.
Streaming TV does not consume much because it is in the operator’s local loop, unlike illegal downloads which load outside your operator’s network on third-party Internet networks.

This is what I have! But the wlan box 3 would not give me any advantage. That’s what I wanted to know. I have number 2 which works very well.
I have a flow rate of about 100/30 but I would have liked to have more.

Show original language (French)

Indeed, the WLAN box will not have more internet speed than the 100/30 subscription, that’s 100% sure.

if the router is in the cellar, you absolutely need a network cable to connect the devices together.

But between WiFi devices, the speed can be higher with the wlan box 3 if installed/configured correctly between them.

but to the internet (outside your home), the speed will not change.

Good morning,

your article is very interesting.

I have an Internet box 3 (flat) at home, and I have already contacted Swisscom for a relatively low speed regarding my WLan. Do you think this new product would be better for my WLan network? Does it also act as a router?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Kind regards.
