TV-Box 5: Problem with image quality "Best Quality"

  • I have the following problem with the new box: I set the best image quality under image quality for the new box. However, I can then select sd and high quality under Srf1, for example. Best quality is not available. However, when I restart the box, the best quality is suddenly available and can be selected. But if I switch the box off using the power button and switch it on again, only high quality and not the best quality (UHD) is available again. Does anyone else have the same problem?

    • @Meiwis Sorry, I just had to smile a bit. Upside down world. We usually have problems with Sony devices and not so much with Samsung devices. For you it’s the other way around 🙂 But as I said, we know the problem and also have another device with the phenomenon in our lab. I hope it’s only a matter of time before we have a fix for this.

@Lori-77 The UHD color issue was a different problem that has now been solved.

    @Meiwis

Since the new TV-Box 5 has no power button at all, it is now unclear which type of TV-Box you are using.

Can you perhaps post a photo of your TV-Box or its nameplate here?

Do I understand your problem correctly:

    - If you switch off the TV-Box or restart it via the menu, then Best Quality will not work

    - As soon as you put the box into standby using the standby button on the remote control and wake it up again, does it work?

If you do NOT have Best Quality available, can you tell me what it shows you under Settings/System/Overview for Video Output and HDCP Version? For best quality, video output must be 3840×2160p | 50Hz and HDCP 2.2 or 2.3 are displayed.

Can you also please tell me your TV model?

@Meiwis Do you also have the problem when you switch to another station (not SRF) after switching on and then back to an SRF station?

Or switch to a non-SRF station before switching off. After switching on, switch to an SRF station.

Is Best Image Quality now set or selectable?

Thank you for your answers. The video output is 3840*2160p, 50Hz, the HDMI version is 2.0. It happens that when I unplug the box from the power supply or force a restart via the menu, the quality works. But if I switch the TV off with the remote control and switch it on again, only HD works. My TV is a Samsung S95B Oled 65″.

Thanks for your answer, yes that’s how it works. But as soon as I switch the box off with the remote control on a channel that offers the best quality and switch it on again, UHD no longer works. I think there is still a problem with the box

I don’t think so. To be honest, I have never noticed this problem and have never heard of it being a problem.

If I switch off on a UHD channel, UHD is available after switching on.

    I see 2 options:

    - Either you are unlucky with your box

    - Your TV and the box are not communicating correctly with each other.

I assume that you used the included HDMI cable when installing the Box 5 and not the old one.

    Hello @Meiwis

Go to the Samsung TV menu

Image -> Expert Setting -> HDMI UHD Color

    Is that on?

I also had to change something on my Samsung TV so that it worked with the UHD test.

    Greetings Lorenz
