MMS, an extension of SMS, was once the big innovation. Finally, you could send holiday snaps or New Year’s wishes featuring images from one mobile phone to another. Launched in 2002, MMS reached its peak in 2013, with around 63 million MMS messages being sent over the Swisscom network at that time.
In recent years, the sending of multimedia messages has been in steep decline. Today, people are more likely to share photos, videos and other files with their friends and family via iMessage, RCS or messenger apps such as Threema, WhatsApp etc. Due to the number of alternative messenger services now available, Swisscom has decided to discontinue its MMS service on 10.1.2023.

What memories do you have of MMS? And which is your preferred messenger service nowadays? We look forward to your comments and discussions!
