Set up email with Outlook 365 on Windows 11

  • Hello everyone

I would like to set up my Bluewin mail account under Windows 11 with Outlook 365. This has worked so far with Windows 10. Unfortunately the configuration doesn’t complete and I get this message:

    Unnamed-1.png

It can’t be the password, that’s correct.

I also have access to the directory where the ost file should be created. There is already another OST from Exchange.

    Anyone an idea?

    • UPDATE: I have now found a way to add the mailbox successfully:

      1. In Outlook, click “Manage Profile” in the account settings.

      2. There click on “Email Accounts…”

      3. In the “Email” tab click on “New…”

      4. Enter your name, email address and password twice here.

I did it according to the linked instructions. However, I didn’t have to enter the settings (server addresses and ports, etc.). Apparently they are queried automatically. If the error message is displayed, a test email will also be sent from Outlook.

@X-Dream did it work like that?

In general, the program retrieves a corresponding entry that contains this information or configuration. This partially replaces the need to enter the data. However, it’s not always like this: my private mail provider “Infomaniak” still has some problems with free webmail in this regard.

I have the same problem. For me, my email username is not the same as my email address. However, Windows 11 seems to assume equality and doesn’t even allow you to enter a user name. Outlook always tries to log in with the email address, which of course results in an authentication error. But with Bluewin I don’t see any option to change my username. Catch 22 😞

    @Fliollackast63 why username?

With Bluewin you do not authenticate yourself via mail clients such as Outlook using your SCL (Swisscom login)!

    But state the following:

    • Username: hansmuster[at]bluewin.ch (i.e. your email address)
    • Password: MySuperSecurePassword123 (i.e. your email password, which is different from the SCL password)

Thank you very much, it worked now. But it’s funny that it still works on the iPhone with just my username.

Hardly possible. Which mail app do you use on the eifon?

    ….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

This is practically impossible @Fliollackast63 are you sure you didn’t specify the email?

Or is your username the stripped down version of the email?:

So hans.muster for the email hans.muster[at]bluewin.ch? Then it could be that the app recognizes this automatically and then completes it (if you have previously selected “Bluewin” as the provider…)
