inOne Mobile "Multi Device"

  • There is now Multi Device where it is possible to have two additional devices with one main Natel number, e.g. to operate an iPad and a mobile hotspot as Multi Device with separate SIM cards with almost the same conditions as the main device.

Unfortunately there is still an error when setting up, it should be possible to activate or deactivate the telephone function on the additional device, this function currently only appears for the first time when activating and setting the SIM card and afterwards this function is no longer available.

Now it can happen if you e.g. The iPad is the first to use Multi Device and the phone function is not deactivated when setting up the SIM card at the beginning, and the main device can no longer be accessed afterwards, e.g. iPhone can be called from externally, only a *missed call* message appears. The phone call only works again when you turn off the iPad.

I have now also activated a second Multi Device, a mobile router (Huawei) and deactivated the telephone function from the start when activating the SIM card and calling from external to the main device works.

According to support, this telephone function, activated and deactivated in the Multi Device, should also be available later under the “Cockpit” and this is currently missing.

It is therefore important when you initially put a Multi Device into operation to decide right at the beginning which function you want to use when making calls, as subsequent changes are currently not possible until the software has been adapted.

It is best to temporarily deactivate the telephone function for mobile hotspot and tablet until the problem is resolved.

    • It now looks like it works with the iPad and iPhone, external calls are now arriving on the iPhone again.

Swisscom has now deactivated the telephone function on the iPad in connection with the Multi Device SIM card, all other functions in connection with the SIM card on the iPad work.

All three devices with the same mobile phone number are now in use at the same time.

This makes the whole thing fun again.:smileyvery-happy:

N.B. I was even able to make calls to the mobile network with the iPad via Swisscom iO without a WLAN connection.

I can partially confirm this: The function mentioned by @WalterB in the “Cockpit” for activating/deactivating the telephone function is actually missing. And if a phone number with “inOne mobile Multi Device” is currently switched off, the caller hears the announcement that the corresponding Anschluss is “temporarily interrupted” (instead of “not available”). There are still some things that don’t correspond to the product promises ([https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/mobile/options/multi-device.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/mobile /options/multi-device.html)…:smileywink))…:smileywink:

Addendum: “Natel Login” using “automatically via SIM” doesn’t seem to work either. However, I can’t tell whether this is related to “Multi Device”.:smileywink:

I’ve now tried again to deregister and re-register the SIM card from the iPad and the function to deactivate the phone is not available here either.

At around 3:00 p.m. support called me back and mentioned that there was a problem with the iPad with this phone function and that it couldn’t be fixed that quickly.

So if you switch on the iPad with the SIM card, external calls to the main device (iPhone) don’t work for the time being. Support couldn’t say when the problem will be fixed.

The Multi Device is currently unsuitable.

Unfortunately, another flop in terms of quality assurance for Swisscom customer software.

Unfortunately yes. Or if you look at it soberly: you don’t get what was promised. But it’s now amazing how sometimes the simplest malfunctions get past quality assurance…:smileywink:

Both have always worked for me. :smileywink:

However, telephone calls can still not be received on the second device (e.g. iPad) (contrary to the announcement here: [https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/mobile/options/multi-device.html](https ://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/mobile/options/multi-device.html)), which is why I consider this problem not yet solved.:smileywink:

At the bottom of the description it says this at the bottom of the text!

*Multi Device is an additional service to a inOne mobile subscription and requires a special SIM for each additional device. After activation, the Multi Device option can be canceled for the first time at the end of the next month (minimum subscription period). It can then be canceled at any time, with the monthly fees being charged pro rata.
After 12 months without activating a Multi Device option or after deactivating the SIM without reactivating it within 12 months, the SIM becomes invalid and can no longer be used.

    Restrictions:
    • Simultaneous voice connections on the main and additional devices are not possible.
    • SMS/MMS sending and receiving are not possible on the additional device.

    (possible with iMessage on iPad)

    • After the 20/40GB for the additional device has been used up, Multi Device users can continue surfing on the additional device at reduced speed for free.
    • The additional device can be used within the scope of the available roaming credit (days/data volume) of the respective inOne mobile subscription. If you use the main and additional devices on the same day, only 1 day of roaming will be charged.
    • Swisscom assumes no liability or guarantee for the functionality of third-party services (such as instant messaging or third-party apps) with Multi Device.
    • Multi Device is not offered for Liechtenstein connections with +423 area code.

N.B. For me it’s fine with this current configuration and the rest will certainly be solved in collaboration with Apple.

I have now set up the SMS/MMS function on the iPad according to Apple’s specifications below for the text and it now also works over the mobile network with Multi Device.

You can use this feature with any Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as long as the device meets the system requirements for integration. Make sure your devices are set up as follows:

    • Each device is signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID.
    • On iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Make sure the Apple ID at the top of the screen is the same Apple ID you use for iMessage on your other devices. Check the box next to your phone number and email address so that you can be reached via iMessage in both ways. Repeat on iPad or iPod touch.
    • On iPhone, choose Settings > Messages > SMS Forwarding, then choose which devices can send and receive text messages from this iPhone. If you don’t use two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, an authentication code will appear on each of your other devices. Enter this code on your iPhone.
    • On Mac, open Messages, then choose Messages > Preferences. Click Accounts, then select your iMessage account. Make sure the Apple ID you see here is the same Apple ID you use on your other devices. Check the box next to your phone number and email address.

Thanks for the information, but these comments have absolutely nothing to do with this point: The fact is that telephone calls are currently not being received on the second device (e.g. iPad) (contrary to the announcement here: https://www.swisscom.ch /de/privatkunden/mobile/options/multi-device.html).

I would also be interested in how you can make calls with the iPad without any additional app?

    Examples etc. wouldn’t be bad.

You can’t make phone calls with the iPad. This is technically not possible! You can still try and post links, unfortunately that won’t help. Look carefully in the video, maybe you’ll notice that it’s not an iPad…. 😉

It’s not directly related to the topic of multi-device, but I make phone calls with the iPad more often.

For this I use the Internet-Box app or Zoiper as a SIP client.

You can even do this while on the go via a VPN connection, provided you have an internet connection, which can probably also be established using the multi-device SIM card.

That’s what I mentioned above, you can’t make calls with the iPad without an additional app, mine has “iO” and “Skype” on it and it works with the SIM card from Multi Device without any problems, it doesn’t require a WiFi connection .

    @WalterB

Exactly, since the iPad doesn’t have a phone app like the iPhone, you just need a SIP app as a replacement.

The ones you mentioned are suitable if you want to make calls using the mobile number.

The Internet-Box app and Zoiper that I mentioned are suitable for using the flat rate of the landline number.

In any case, I think that * Multi Device * is a good thing, before I always had to pay for two data subscriptions and now there is only one common number and the price of CHF 7.50 each is within a good range.

Normally I only need the mobile router for tests or in an emergency and the iPad when I’m on the go, otherwise it’s via the internal WLAN.
