Cisco SG300-10PP - IGMP Snooping konfigurieren
Hello community asking for help,
Initial situation
My existing home network showed its limits when I upgraded to the new Internetbox Plus and three Swisscom TV2.0 boxes: from a jerky picture, to super slow access to my NAS, to crashing SC TV boxes. A huge broadcast chatter seems to light up all the switch LEDs.
Thanks to the good information from TuxOne (@Anonymous: Thank you!), I quickly found out that it was a case of network flooding because the existing Netgear switches GS108 v3 do not support IGMP snooping. Since I’ve had problems in my network before, I’ve been considering a managed switch for a long time, which would allow me to better trace issues. I therefore decided on the Cisco SG300 mentioned by TuxOne as the “core switch” and two Netgear GS105Ev2 as access switches.
Problem
After setting IP address and PW on the Cisco SG300 and replacing and configuring the cascaded Netgear switches according to TuxOne’s instructions (without VLAN1) I still have “flooding” on all Ethernet ports. Both on the Cisco and on the two Netgears.
Situation
Well, to be honest: I always thought I had a rough grasp of the basic principles of Ethernet and TCP/IP. But what this Cisco switch allows is really COMPREHENSIVE:-I. It’s actually a small network.
Connected to the Cisco SG300:
Port 1: Swisscom InternetBox
Port 2: Synology NAS
Port 3: Swisscom TV 2.0 (bedroom)
Port 4: Logitech Squeezbox1
Port 5: HP Color Laser
Port 6: LoxOne (building automation)
Port 7: Netgear GS105Ev2 (Office)
Port 8: Netgear GS105Ev2 (living room)
Port 9: IP Cam (reserve for later)
On the Netgear GS105EV2 (office):
Port 1: Laptop
Port 2: TV
Port 3: Swisscom TV 2.0 (Office)
On the Netgear GS105EV2 (living room):
Port 1: Logitech Squeezbox2
Port 2: Denon Receiver
Port 3: Microsoft xBox
Port 3: Swisscom TV 2.0 (living room)
And now the question of questions: How do I configure this set so that the “flooding” no longer “clogs” all the ports?
- Do I have to configure a VLAN or is it possible without it? Does IGMP snooping only work with VLANs?
- Do the VLANs (e.g. VLAN10) have to be configured consistently on all three switches?
- Does IGMP snooping have to be switched on separately on the ports with the attached Swisscom TV 2.0 devices or must IGMP snooping be set somehow “globally”?
- Does the Cisco SG300 have to be pointed to the IGMP proxy (the SC Internet box)?
Call
As you can see, I’m a bit overwhelmed and am grateful for as much help as possible. If I can provide any further input, please let me know. If anyone has a similar setup running, I would be very grateful for screenshots and “simple” instructions and answers to the questions above.
Thank you very much and greetings
