connection problem

Good evening dear Internet users,

I will try to make it as simple as possible. I have a Swisscom telephone + TV + internet subscription, all combined in a single box. For about a week now, I haven’t been able to access the internet with any of my computers or smartphones. When I run the Windows diagnostic it usually shows me: “Wireless network connection does not have a valid IP configuration”. The most surprising thing about all of this is that I also have a PS3, which works perfectly for downloads and online games.
Thank you for reading me
Good evening

Having only very limited access to internal communication via my smartphone, it would be very kind of you to explain to me how to see/modify these parameters under Windows 7. Thank you

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings (in the menu on the left)

You then see the wireless or ethernet network card, just right click and go to properties and double click on "Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4).

You can then either choose a fixed IP address or leave it automatic.

IP address: 192.168.1.xx (xx to be replaced by numbers, see below)

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Default gateway: 192.168.1.1 (router IP address)

For DNS either you put 192.168.1.1 in the main otherwise this:

DNS Swisscom VDSL 195.186.1.162 and 195.186.4.162

For the IP address you must choose one not used by another device and outside the address allocation range of the DHCP server, for me with a Centro Grande it goes from 192.168.1.33 to 192.168.1.63

but it depends on the router and its configuration.

hello,

I had the same problem that I talked about in the other thread and after changing my DNS or assigning IP addresses to my devices for random results, it turned out that it was the router that had a problem. issue. Swisscom changed it for me and the technician confirmed that it was quite common with the Centro Grande

7 days later

In fact, my internet has been experiencing regular problems for several months now. Even if I manage to resolve the problem, a few days later a new one appears and so on. I noticed that even if I couldn’t resolve the problem, I only had to wait two or three days for the connection to come back. In the end, whether I solve the problem or not, it comes down to the same thing. So I’m thinking of changing my router. But how should I go about it?

For sarlunx

His last intervention above mentions problems appearing and disappearing on their own. I had read at the time that with the DSL standard, the ISP’s equipment would recalibrate the router remotely from time to time, for example depending on line conditions. This would therefore explain it.

Hi,

according to your experience and the technician who changed the centro grande for you, is it a HW problem?

At my parents they said that it’s a problem with the current firmware (which swisscom updated directly) and that it’s because of that they had to change DHCP to give a “fixed” IP… already I find it not very professional.. especially since they are not going to inform us when the problem will be resolved… we will have to look at polling the version of the firmware and if it changes cross the fingers and try to change to DHCP….

In my opinion it comes from your modem. See if you have a Centro Grand Pirelli and if so ask to have it replaced with a Motorola. This is what Swisscom did in desperation for me and it seems to have solved my problems which were similar to yours

I think that before changing your device you can carry out some basic operations such as updating your firmware accessible from your modem, checking your PCs, possibly resetting your modem, setting IP on network card…

yes he has the “n”

but hey sarlunx, did you call the hotline? They can already monitor your line so you will see if the problem comes from there or if it is your hardware

I don’t see the point of N on the internet part and slowness problems…

The N is for 300 mbits knowing that your subscription is at 20 mbits perhaps more if you have the possibility, otherwise the G is at 54 mbits.

And for a slowness problem we connect the cable:smileywink:
