Here I am again (and always in english because my german is too bad (and the english section of this forum is dead))

do you know how to get this router, zyxel P-2802HWL(-I), properly working with swisscom vdsl?

DSL led never stops blinking... what does it mean?

Did you plug the DSL-cable in the correct, the vilolett plug at the slitter ?

Please use an other cable for testing.

It can be, that it is an crossover cable ?

You get from SC an violett cable. Use this for testing.

This router definitely works with VDSL. I use him at work.

If the LED never sops blinking, it will get no DSL-Fix.

Do you fill the username and password correct ?

Look in the Log-file, if there is an authantication error.

yes, I think I've filled the right username & password... (the username is the one with @bluewin.ch at the end, isnt' it?!)

so, the settings of the wizards are "routing" & "pppoe", is it correct?

another question, how have you attached your router to the line?  using which cables and filter?

thank you!

Yes the username ist with name@bluewin.ch

I got an analog connection end use the filter.

Did you show at the Log on the router ?

At the customer center you can show your username and password. It is not the one you use for e-mail !

Small translation of post before. 1st, Your router is a ISDN model (Annex B) it will not work on a Analog phone line Annex A) what kind of phone line is using? 2nd, Connection type for VDSL is DHCP. PPPoE is for ADSL only. Regards, o.s.t.

Both are Annex B. That's not the difference.

hi,

no, it's not the ISDN version.... at least, I think so, they never speak about ISDN in the manual; however, it's exact name is "P-2802HWL-I1"

but I don't understand how to correctly link router, splitter and line; the router dsl plug has 4 pins, it should be for a rj-11 cable. But the splitter "modem" plug has 8 pins and it's for a rj-45 cable.

:smileymad:

p.s. the router log says nothing special... I can only see: router status DOWN

I can't use the violet one, because the router dsl plug is too small.

I tried with a telephone cable (rj11 with 4 pins), even if it doesn't fit perfectly in the splitter

yeah

you were right marcus!

I was using a crossed-over rj11 cable, that's why it wouldn't work! I haven't realized it

Now I've replaced it with a direct rj11 cable and it's everything alright

I've just noticed that ping-time is 3-4ms better with the zyxel than it was with centro grande. 🙂

Thank you everybody!! 🙂

@LeeV,

at the topic/subject was written "P-2802HWL(-I)". The "-I" indicates the ISDN-Version.

but the real type is written on the label at the bottom side. ...HWL-x1 indicates the Analog version, the ...HWL-x3 indicates the ISDN Version.

but anyway, the most important is, the story is running now 🙂

regards, o.s.t.

nice OT tuxone :PPPP

by the way, now I've got another problem:

the router keeps on losing the connection after 1h-1h30m, it has already happened 3-4 times today...

the lights on the router keep being correct and even the config page (at 192.168.1.1) says that connection is up... but it's absolutely not true....

and then I've to restart every time the vdsl connection. :smileymad:

Do you know what it could be?

should I install a swisscom-modified firmware? if it exists... (now I'm using a firmware downloaded from zyxel.com)

Hello,

I am running a "P-2802HWL-I1" on VDSL here and it runs smooth for weeks. Firmware is the latest from zyxel.ch (3.70(ajn5)_r87). It is connected via a normal "Migros" TT89 <-> RJ11 cable to the telefone socket, without filter, as I don't have any phone.

You were talking about setting the mode to "Routing - PPPoE" in one of your first posts. You have changed that to "Routing - Ethernet" in the meantime, right? Or do you have a business line?

In the first days of operation I had some troubles with the connection as well. When restarting, it wouldn't get an IP from the DHCP. But somehow the problems disappeared by themselves after a couple of days and I have now been happy since last September. :smileywink:

Hi jumpseat!

yesterday and today it seems to work pretty well;

in fact I think it was a firmware problem, before I was using the 3.70(aua2), now I also have the 3.70(ajn5)_r87.

from curiosity: have you ever modified anything in the QoS settings? or in the RIP (WAN or LAN) settings? or are you using the default ones?

thank you

Hello,

No, I haven't touched these settings at all.
