Port Forwarding not allowed

Hello!

I am trying to run a server for me and my friends to play on but when I look into the port forwarding section on my internet box, a message pops up. I was just wondering how I change it so I can port forward my server port.

The message that pops up is:

Your Internet-Box has not been assigned a public internet IP address. This service is therefore not available. Port forwarding not available.

How do I assign/give my Internet-Box a public IP address?

So 2 solutions:
- Either it’s a router bug, depending on the model see below
- Or IP CGNAT, they generally start with 100.8x.xxx.xxx.

To find out, go to ping.eu or equivalent site to find out the assigned public IP:
- if same IP as router, it is a bug *
- otherwise it is a IP CGNAT

Thanks a lot! I looked at all the different IP addresses but didn’t find something about a duplicate. Otherwise I have no idea how to “put” a public IP address on my router.

In other words, I don’t know exactly what I have to do

In general, every device that interacts with the Internet has a private IP. This can be used within the network.

In the WWW, all devices in your network are using the same IP.

Every device usually also has such an IP. For me these usually start with 85…

Visit the following URL with your PC: https://www.wieistmeineip.de/.

The public IP address with which you are traveling is displayed there.

In many cases it can be a problem with online games that the ports are not open or that your device does not have a correct connection to the outside world.

Therefore you would have to give us further information, what kind of server it is, what operating system and more.
