Dear Swisscom Support Community,

How can I limit and control the internet access in my home when the kids are using their notebook computers and or smartphones to access the internet at home? Can someone help?

do you mean limit in hours and traffic and / or also limit the web sites that can be opened?

In both case, AFAIK, you need a software installed on the end user device (the notebook or cell phone of your childs).

You could also use a device that acts as proxy that would be connected to the swisscom router.

But out of the box, you can't do that.

There are severall software products out in the market that can achieve that.

Hello,

As my 9-year old daughter uses its iPod Touch to access the web, I was searching about the same topic, and came across a number of ideas...

1) Wifi curfew
With the Centro router, you can configure when the wifi should be activated and when it should stop.

Ideally, combine it with 2 wifi accesses, 1 for the kids, another for the adults (not tried yet).

2) Use a filtered DNS server

For example, OpenDNS has family-friendly DNS servers that filter out explicit web sites. Might not be compatible with VDSL though.
