Two factor authentication Mail / Bluewin app

  • Good morning

I have a question about logging into webmail and the Bluewin app.

If I want to log in to webmail, I need my Swisscom login and a 2fa code, which will be sent to my cell phone. That’s why I assumed that my email account was also secured with 2fa.

Now I set up the Bluewin app and was able to log in there without a 2fa code. Is my Bluemail account with or without 2fa?

    • With the Swisscom login, which is also used as a login for webmail, you can activate 2fa.

Mail itself is not 2fa protected.

There is no app password as is possible elsewhere, but a password for smtpauths and imaps/pops which is the same on all devices and should not necessarily be forgotten 😁

It’s actually tragic that Swisscom, as the largest provider in Switzerland, does not offer two/multi-factor authentication for its mail services. In the cloud age, this should actually be a given. For private mail providers, I only use Outlook.com (Google Gmail.com would also work, but it doesn’t allow the synchronization of address book and calendar via the Outlook app) - for business I rely on Microsoft Exchange Online / Office 365 - of course also with 2 -Factor authentication.

Swisscom, when will you follow suit?
