Can you tell us how're you connected (mobile-network vs. privat/public WiFi) and what your public-IP address is (check on http://www.whatsmyip.org/).

does the app opens and you can't play the recordings OR does it remain at the grey welcome screen? For the 2nd option this means that you probably can't get a proper internet connection.
Try to:
- use another WiFi network
- or if you have some local friends try to tether (setup a hotspot over another deivce) over their devices
I was lately in Germany and it worked all well for me. Would be strange if there's a special behavior for Italy...
If everything fails best call the hotline. It might be some account related issue...
