Hello everyone,
I am experiencing a problem with my home network setup and hope someone here might be able to help or share similar experiences.
I use a Swisscom Internet Box 3 as my main modem (and normally only as a modem), connected to a 5G booster (Nokia from Swisscom). After that, my network consists of a Mesh of “Linksys Velop WiFi 6 AX4200” that covers my house and where all my devices are connected. I applied the “DMZ” option to this router so I manage the port forwarding directly on Linksys.
If I connect directly to the Internet Box 3, it provides maximum internet speed: my base speed of 300Mbps + the booster speed = 450Mbps. However, when I switch to my subnet managed through the Linksys system, for both Wi-Fi and wired connections, the speed does not get the additional boost and it’s stuck at 300Mbps (the same speed I would have without the booster, even if I connect directly to Internet Box 3).
I contacted Swisscom technical support, and they told me that “this is the way”: only what is connected directly to the Internet Box 3 can use the boost, the subnets are not affected by the booster and thus neither are all the devices on it.
This seems odd and somewhat limiting given the use of a personal subnet.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Are there specific settings or adjustments I can make to get the booster to work on my personal network as well? Or is what I was told on the phone the only available option?
Thank you in advance for any advice or experiences you might share!
