When it comes to encrypting DNS requests, a distinction must be made between:
- DNS over HTTPS (DoH), which is partially supported in browsers (perhaps easiest in Firefox, if the corresponding setting is generally set)
- DNS over TLS, which can be used as a local resolver on the network level. To do this, however, you need an additional, specially suitable appliance in your own LAN
As far as I know, Swisscom's own DNS servers do not yet support either of the two methods.
As long as one moves purely in the provider's own environment, it would also not lead to more privacy.
