Swisscom TV Surround

I have just bought a Samsung LED TV and have installed Swisscom TV 2.0 and there are no problems with the installation so far, but …

The Samsung TV has no audio jack output, so I connected the Samsung headphone output to my hi-fi equipment, which includes 2 external speakers.

This gives a too low sound output, so I tried the alternative of connecting the audio output of the STB to the hi-fi.

Now is the problem … I get “surround” which produces a very unpleasant echo in the room.

My hi-fi does not have “surround” capability, so the “surround” must be generated by the STB.

I get “surround” on both settings of the STB menu - it makes no difference if I select and save “stereo” or “surround” on the STB menu.

How do I get rid of this terrible “surround” noise?

Sometimes it happens, that I forget to turn off the sound on my TV when i use my external sound system. Then I also hear something like an echo. Maybe with a reset of the TV box it will be better. If not, contact the Swisscom Support.
