ASUS RT-AC87U configuration for Swisscom TV

Does anyone have any idea how to configure an ASUS RT-AC87U to stream HD TV?

In standard TV quality, it streams perfectly however not in HD quality.

From my understanding, multicast needs to be configured and if so, what are the settings that should be used?

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for info. I have already contacted ASUS and waiting for their feedback but I don't know how long they will take if they are able to help at all.

I've also had your technician come on Saturday and checked that everything is in order. Is your "My Service Specialist" going to be able to assist as your technician called someone when he was at my home to troubleshoot, and they didn't have any idea what settings to user for Multicast.

The WLAN Booster we sell is not compatible with Swisscom TV 2.0, which could also apply to the ASUS device you have. I have the older rt66 also called as wlan booster.
There is an option for multicast. But not sure if that works with tv even when not supported

Set Enable IGMP Snooping to Enable

but if SD works fine, it's not possibly a multicast issue. But again: I don't know how to continue in your approach. So have some google 🙂

Yeah, that's what I thought also re: SD vs HD working vs. not working but the Swisscom techie who came to my home reckons it's a multicast issue.

He plugged in an old Motorola Netopia just like mine and it worked without a hiccup. My Netopia is configured as a bridge.

So, go figure.

inverse it simply:

do the routing via swisscom supported hardware and use the asus as a bridge. Than no problemo 😉

No can do. That would defeat the purpose of having this Quantenna AC router.

ASUS support finally came after 1 1/2 months of owning this device. The gave me a new beta firmware to try and this time enabling multicast stuck and now able to view HD without any problems.
