On May 12 2011 I changed to Swisscom DSL, after using Sunrise ADSL since 2004. I am using DHCP without explicit DNS settings, but the Swisscom DNS Server appears to be unable to find named web servers in about 10% of my web accesses. I never encountered this problem during the 7 years that I used the Sunrise service.
The problem appears to be somewhat random. i.e., sometimes my browser reports that it can’t find a web server, and at other times the access to the same server works OK.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
As a temporary workaround, I have changed to using the Google Public DNS IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. This works fine, with no failed accesses at all.
