Unfortunately, this article does not mention that there are large dead spots in many hiking areas. And not only in high alpine areas but also in the Jura, for example.
Large areas in the mountains are only served by 3G, meaning switching off 3G in this case becomes a major security risk.
I recommend the REGA app. The big advantage is the tracking function, i.e. the progress is recorded by Rega and it can also be made available to third parties. If you have an accident in an area without reception, the last location with reception will still be visible when a relative is reported missing. This narrows down the search area considerably.
