I often ask myself this question without really finding an answer.
So I’m putting it to you here.
Is there a way to turn your television set into your computer screen?
In other words, is it possible to connect your router directly to your TV set?
Is this now possible with Google TV or with new devices?
Comfortably seated in your armchair with your keyboard, you type, write, etc…
and it all appears “big” on your TV. A dream come true!

The router enables your devices to connect to the Internet.
If your TV has a data network connection (network, LAN, TV connections: explanation), you can connect it to your router. The TV then has a connection to the Internet and can use it to update itself or send data to the manufacturer. Depending on the equipment and age of the device, you can use apps and access media libraries of TV channels, just like on a smartphone.
However, your computer is not connected to your TV to use it as a monitor. You will need an HDMI or display port cable for this, depending on which connection your TV and computer have.
Perhaps ask a knowledgeable friend, acquaintance, neighbour or child/grandchild if someone can help you and perhaps even have a cable to test.

As an alternative, perhaps a 49-inch monitor would do the trick! Indeed, what I’m looking for is to have
a bigger screen than what I have now. In that case, I’ll probably need a ‘tower’.
and a screen, not an all-in-one!

I know a user who has an “all-in-one PC” - with a screen and an additional screen of the same size next to it. This gives him twice the workspace and he can arrange programme windows as he likes on the two screens. He gets on very well with it and would never want to do without the second screen again.
I also think you are more flexible with 2 single screens than with a large “ultrawide curved screen”.
You can keep your all-in-one PC and only need an additional screen of the same size and have double the work surface with little effort.
It’s also more ergonomic to work with than using a distant TV as a screen

Freimmientis36 One solution that has not yet been mentioned is the possibility of castering the screen to the TV-Box.
Open Chrome and right-click in the central window. In the list displayed, choose “Caster”.
Click on “Source” and choose “Caster the screen”. Then click on the name of your TV box in the list of available boxes.
You can minimise Chrome to work with other applications.
The system will replicate your screen on your TV.
Freimmientis36 A lot depends on what you want in terms of sound, image quality/size and whether or not you want to remotely control your media source…
I’ve tried the ChromeCast and it’s great with the remote control and a Bluetooth speaker as an extra TV on a PC screen, you can control the volume and that’s all there is to it. To cast from the computer or tablet, the 2 must be on the same wifi, which is better for presentations like slideshows or quizzes than video. You need multiroom to log on to the blue tv app with a chromecast box. For 4k I’d recommend a TV or projector. Now some TVs don’t even have built-in speakers.
Before I had Apple tv box until Disney + was integrated into the swisscom tv box, I sold it, the version I had the remote control was not at all practical and all the time to recharge it not great.
If you have the current programme on the TV, your box is not free for casting.
Put the TV-Box on stand-by and repeat the operation on the PC. Under the name of your TV-Box you should see “Available” to cast to it.
The image shows 3 boxes with different possibilities:
The first is available for casting.
The second displays the television, but you can click Stop to free it up and make it available for casting.
The third is broadcasting the image of the PC. You must click Stop to stop the casting.
