How to recover films purchased on Swisscom TV after termination

  • I was a Swisscom TV subscriber for years and during that time purchased a few films (I mean purchased, not rented). I have since changed supplier. I imagined that I would keep the films via the bluewin TV app which is on my TV. But the question is to know with which login, the Swisscom login having been converted to bluewin light, just to keep the email addresses. Or were the films not really purchased?

      1. Movies on rental
      Rental films are in principle available to customers for a period of 48 hours from the order. Reception requires the existence of an Internet connection, so that the film can be viewed live from a Swisscom server (“streaming”), as well as a login for an active abonnement Swisscom TV or a TV Air (free) login at by which the film was rented.

      2. Films and series for purchase
      Films and series for purchase are available to streaming customers for a period of at least ten years from purchase. Purchased films and series can be downloaded and viewed (download) on a registered device (tablet or smartphone, for iOS devices possible from version 14, for Android devices from version 7) via Swisscom blue TV Companion or Swisscom blue TV Air (free) (from version 2.5.0) for at least ten years from purchase. Streaming viewing requires the existence of an Internet connection as well as a login for an active abonnement Swisscom TV or a TV Air (free) login through which the film or series was purchased.

      To view a downloaded movie, an Internet connection with Swisscom blue TV Companion or Swisscom blue TV Air (free) must be established at least every 30 days, depending on the service through which the download was made. This requires an active abonnement Swisscom TV or a TV Air (free) login through which the film or series in question was purchased. UHD quality films and series are until further notice only available for streaming on Swisscom TV Box, but not for downloading.

    Unless I’m mistaken, purchased films are available for viewing as long as you subscribe to Blue Tv. In fact, there is no possibility of “exiting” them from Blue Tv by downloading them.

    The difference between renting and buying is that a rented film can only be watched for 48 hours while a purchased film can be watched for as long as you are a Blue Tv customer.

    Movies purchased through streaming services are actually tied to your account and active subscription, rather than a permanent purchase

    Call Swisscom on 0800 800 800 to ask if it is possible to access your films via your current subscription and the Bluewin Light login.

    Thanks for the response. I’m not going to make a big deal out of it because I only had a few films, but I think that one day a good lawyer could do a lot of harm to Swisscom who used the term buy for this service when it implies continuing to pay forever to benefit from your purchase which is therefore in reality a rental. This is comparable to an unfair practice and the day these things come before a court, it costs a lot…

    It’s a bit of a paradox of digital, and it is also (in my opinion/my personal opinion) an obstacle to the free choice of the operator.

    We tell ourselves that we buy films on VOD instead of DVD/Blu-ray so we avoid physical packaging, we do something for the planet, we are green….

    But in the end you lose your purchase if you change operator, whereas you keep a DVD for life.

    The worst thing is that the DVD is often even cheaper than purchasing it on VOD.

    And we have the same problem with recordings, we lose everything if we change operator.

    We almost come to miss the good old VHS…. 😉

    ComCom would do well to look into this point for a future revision of the Telecom law, the portability of purchases and registration, as one can already carry its number. telephone.
