Ok, I think the problem won’t get any less in the future because people tend to have more and more devices in their home that want to be connected.

I have uninstalled the WBs at the moment, the constant reboots are not acceptable.

@cybi

It would be really interesting to see whether the problem really only depends on the Swisscom WLAN boxes.

Do you have the opportunity to test use independent WLAN access points in your network like I did?

The first tests with the Internet-Box 5 and a client with a BE200 WiFi module show the following measured values:

Measurement with cnlab UX test

Download 1.2Gbit/s and upload 2.4Gbit/s measured with cnlab UX test.

How do you measure the speeds and what values do you achieve?

It’s a good card that “only” has a 2×2 structure, but still supports 320 MHz bandwidth. Interesting that the download isn’t better. The question is whether the limit is in the WLAN or on the test server or on the way there.

Last night the IB5 did an update and it seems to have pulled some old backup from the KC.

In any case, everything was changed, WLAN name, DNS address, VPN settings.

I had to reset everything manually, which was a bit tedious, and immediately loaded a current backup into the KC.

Strange behaviour that the IB4 had never done before.

I swapped the IB4 for the IB5 and am extremely satisfied with the IB5. The change was worth it for me because the WLAN is much more stable. Importing the backup also worked perfectly. The whole installation took about 15 minutes until everything was “playing” again.

With the current firmware version 15.08.26, the download via WiFi has been increased. However, unlike the upload, the download is never consistently stable:

From my point of view, the increase in bandwidth compared to WiFi 6/6E is very high.

WiFi radios use extra power and also generate heat, and if you have 3 of them as a tri-band router, that generates a little more heat.

Technically speaking, however, this is not a problem, as it only becomes really dangerous for the SOCS installed in the hardware at around 100 degrees, and the safety shutdown heat sensors are set much lower.

Was this already the case with the last firmware? I thought it was before

The following: I want to provide my guests with wifi without a password that they can then simply use.

But this only works if I reset the IB to Wifi 6.

It is not possible to connect to the guest Wifi on Wifi 7.
