Internet booster 5G

  • Good morning,

I have had a 5G internet booster for a few weeks and I must admit that I had the greatest difficulty placing it in order to have a good connection and obtain the famous green LED permanently active. On the other hand, when I go to the settings of the Nokia box it only receives 4G.

And yet if I restart my IB3 router I receive 5G for one to 2 minutes then it disconnects and only 4G remains. Have you had this scenario? If so is there a way to stabilize 5G?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    • Hello, do you still have this problem with 4G connection only? If so, a call to customer service can help you resolve the problem. I personally encountered a similar problem following a power outage in the area. My booster no longer reconnected to 5G and 4G connected to a different base station than the one before the outage. The Swisscom team launched a reset on their side and 15-20 minutes later I recovered the flow values before the outage.

I’m answering myself because after checking, I see that I have lost the 5G connection again and that my 4G connection is again on a more distant base station. I have the impression that Swisscom has reviewed the distribution of Boosters by base station and authorized me on another antenna. What allows me to say this is the fact that upon reboot I have both signals (4G and 5G) at maximum for 4-5 seconds and then only the very weak 4G. After analysis when I am well connected the PCI 5G and 4G are respectively 791 and 501, when I have the problem I am on the PCI 4G 219. I will call Swisscom support again; but it gets heavy.

Having failed to contact support before the closing date on Friday evening, I continued my investigations and managed on my own to restore the situation by modifying some advanced parameters of the booster. I wouldn’t document the settings further; but this confirms a problem with pairing the booster with 4G/5G cells. Please note that by forcing the connection of the booster to the most powerful cell(s) at the reception location I find the expected flow rates. @Swisscom, I am available to discuss and assist you in resolving this issue.

      Hello everyone,

for those who are interested, I share here a small analysis of the flow rates over the pre and post incident period. Having fixed the cells to which the booster connects not only resulted in the return to expected flow rates; but by an improvement of these (+100 Mb/s).

@Black Mamba nice, thanks for the message, however I did it as much to inform Booster users as to draw Swisscom’s attention to the fact that the current logic/firmware of this box does not work. is not optimal and does not offer, as claimed, the best throughput on the reception site. I hope to be able to get rid of my “custom” configuration as soon as possible and return to the default settings. To finish on a positive note, when the booster is well configured it is a real plus for anemic wired connections.
