@gundi

You were so completely convinced that your W10 PC was configured completely correctly, but on your last harcopy of the detailed firewall rules you can now see exactly the configuration error in the SMB shares of your W10 that @PowerMac suspected. PC.

Now you have a chance to prove in practice your level of competence requested by other users:

Now also recognize errors yourself and eliminate the misconfiguration on the W10 PC directly. Any time less than 5 minutes to find a solution will then result in a grade above 4 🙂

I think I have found the error, testing will show this.

I know that I don’t know anything!!

But still, many thanks to you know-it-alls.

Nobody said you don’t know anything, but rather how much knowledge there is about creating a network, so depending on our knowledge we can skip basic questions or start at the beginning and that shouldn’t be an obstacle.

We are not all-knowing either and have to check the internet every now and then to see what information or solutions are already known.

There are sometimes many different solutions to solve the problem, or even simple ones.

Test negative. Please provide instructions on which rule I need to change (incoming, outgoing) in Windows Defender for the private network.

Greetings and many thanks

Regarding your Post No. 16: This looks like a browser error message. I thought you wanted to access X3 via Windows Explorer (SMB)? Doesn’t make any sense to me now, or am I missing something?

All of the rules in the “File and Printer Sharing” group are deactivated, so it’s only logical that access is not possible.

It should be enough to activate the following two rules (see also [here](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/file-server/best-practices-analyzer/smb-open -file sharing ports))

  • File and printer sharing (NB session incoming)
  • File and printer sharing (SMB inbound)

To maintain the full functionality of SMB and NB, also activate the remaining rules for the “Private, Public” profile.

Note that the rules exist twice, once for the “Domain” profile and once for “Private, Public”. In your case it would be the rule under “Private, Public” that you would have to activate. Which, to be honest, would make me a bit nervous in terms of security, but as long as you only operate the computers in the home network… Otherwise you could make further restrictions in the interests of security in the detailed settings of the rules in the “Area” tab. Or write your own rules. But that would be more for advanced users.

Also compare the firewall settings of X3 with those of X1 and X2.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Thank you very much. Looks great at the moment. Will still have to test.

I don’t know Win that well, I “grew up” with RT11, Open-VMS, ASM (80486), Ada, PL/M and Pascal. (a so-called Pascal disciple thanks to N. Wirth).

Unfortunately the test came back negative.

In some cases I no longer have access from X1 to X2.

So I dial X1 within the network connection of X2: It doesn’t work, then I wait 2 minutes: then it works.

I’m overwhelmed at the moment.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry for bothering you again.

I have set all the rules according to your specifications. Nevertheless, it doesn’t work as expected and I get the message regularly

“Network path not found”

Thanks for your help
