TV Box 5 problems

  • Hello everyone,

Since I bought the new TV Box 5, I have encountered some problems:

    1. My TV screen turns off for 2 to 3 seconds, then the image comes back, this 2 to 3 times a day. 2. My recordings of films or series no longer work correctly, the image freezes and I have to go forward 30 seconds to recover, thus losing track of the progress of the film or series.

I would like to know if I am the only one experiencing these problems.

Thank you in advance for your answers!

      Hello Daniel,

In fact, the installation went perfectly. I used the supplied HDMI cable.

I cut off the power to the TV, the TV Box 5 and the router every evening before going to bed (power strip to which everything is plugged separately, a switch for each device). I don’t know if it’s a good thing to do this (energy saving).

In the morning, I turn on the router again for the Internet, but not the TV box or the TV, I only watch TV in the late afternoon and evening.

In summary, I restart all devices, every day, including weekends.

      Hello Mad64

Cutting power to devices to save energy is a bad idea, because when restarting, I have already measured that they consume 2 to 3 times more for about an hour.

In addition, updates to TV boxes and routers take place overnight.

Turning off the router from cold rather than using the ON/OFF button located on the router may result in timing errors (CRC).

It’s better to stop at night every now and then rather than every day. This allows you to not lose synchronization of the internet line and to carry out updates.

To save money, simply deactivate Wi-Fi at night by accessing the internet box settings, then the WLAN section, and finally the “rest time” section. You can set times for Wi-Fi to be active.

Not to mention that the best connection to avoid interference from the TV box is to be wired rather than using Wi-Fi

    Hello @Mad64

This may depend on what was done when installing the new box. Is the HDMI cable the one supplied with the new TV-Box 5?

Try restarting TV-Box, but also restarting the television to resynchronize the HDMI connection.

If the problem still exists, restart the router as well.

Equipment always doing a cold start is not this type of problem, but it could cause another. You must pay attention to the restart order by letting the equipment start up completely before the next one.

In the evening, try turning the television back on first and then the TV-Box so that it finds the TV properly at first.

As for making energy-saving equipment experience a power outage every day, I’m not a fan, but they should normally resist. For the TV and the Box, at least put them on standby before switching off to limit the risk of corruption such as an update in progress.
