Hello everyone
Can someone tell me what the difference is between the Mutliroom option (currently active for me) and the Multiroom MAX option?
And what is the maximum number of boxes that can be connected?
Thanks for your feedback

The Multiroom option is an old option that is no longer available for subscription today. This makes it possible to operate an additional TV box or Smart TV at the same time for CHF 5.
Multiroom Max makes it possible to operate 4 other devices, i.e. TV boxes / Smart TVs, at the same time in addition to the basic TV subscription. This costs CHF 10.-, even if you only want to operate one additional device (+2 to +4 devices).
Customers who still have a subscription to Multiroom (+ 1 device) continue to pay CHF 5.-, new customers must subscribe to Multiroom Max for CHF 10.-, even if they only want to operate one additional device (while watching at the same time).

Thanks for this feedback.
I currently have 2 TV boxes in the network and the multiroom option.
If I were to buy a new box now, would I have to remove one of the existing boxes so that I would still only have 2 boxes in the network?
Three months ago, replacing a TV-Box still worked, it should still work.

If you now buy an additional box and put it into operation, the system will ask you which existing TV box you would like to replace, since you can only operate a maximum of 2 TV boxes with the old multiroom option.
Of course, you can leave this multiroom option, it’s just that the “replaced” box in the system always asks which active box you want to replace when you switch it on. You can do this indefinitely.

Hello @Sunnastau71
That’s right. The multiroom option for a single additional box is being removed from the offer

Geht mir gleich.
It’s not always just about the number of people, but rather about the TV devices (with blue TV app or TV box) in a household. In many cases there is more than one device per person.
Of course it’s a price increase if you really only use two TV sets.
Another thought on this:
Perhaps Swisscom acted this way because too many customers actually used more than two TV boxes or blue TV apps on their Smart TVs with multiroom by constantly switching back and forth between more than two devices.
There are no technical considerations whatsoever, because Swisscom’s production costs make almost no difference how many streams and devices there are in a single household and whether they are running or not.
The entire regulation of the number of devices and parallel streams, which, by the way, not even all CH IPTV providers know, is not cost-related at all, but purely marketing-oriented and is primarily aimed at maximizing purchasing power on average but very willing to spend Swiss consumers 🙂
Ultimately, it is simply a question of supply and demand, and from a purely market economic point of view, for unregulated and non-existential goods, every supplier is allowed to set the prices as they want, and every consumer can also decide independently what price they want for a particular item is still willing to pay.
With the price for the second TV-Box almost doubling, Swisscom is probably simply assuming that less than half of the two-box owners will not accept the price increase.
If not, it was a marketing misjudgment.

Ergo… let’s let ourselves be surprised…

So, I am an existing customer and my current product is Multiroom Option. We are two people and so we don’t need the new Multiroom Max option. We wouldn’t know where to put a total of 5 TVs either. With this in mind, we don’t want to pay for something we don’t use. (Fr. 9.90/month)** Fr. 5.00 as before is fine.
Thank you very much for the feedback.
Hello @BMW_17a
You are here in a customer helping customer community. The most we can do is refer you to the hotline.
But honestly, I wouldn’t have high hopes if I were you. The multiroom option is being removed from the offer. There is now only Multiroom Max. Keeping a product that is taken out of the range will probably be difficult. There are probably only 3 options:
- Accept Multirom Max for 9.90
- Only use one box
- Change provider
